Betcha even Dumars was sweating that selection out hoping that at least one of his mistakes wouldn't spell doom, but.......at this point Gores should have sent him to rep Detroit as his last official duty and if they indeed got passed over we could see the look on his face instead of that "what just happen and why I am here" look that Singler gave when the announcer indicated that the Cavs had moved up....:bs: Then they could have interviewed Joe and asked him what were his thoughts when he and MJ made that deal... MJ is laughing at us again...just like he did in 1991....

This was worse than the Darko pick which could be seen as mis-judgement. This was an out an out give away of a top ten pick. I will not stop being a Joe fan but this was plain mis-management 101. And those who started this thread, saw it coming.

The Pistons now must trade into the guard/shooter market and that means they may have no choice but to give up an asset. The Pistons cannot sit with that guard corp another year as is.

If this doesn't lead calls for a review of the draft lottery system then Silver is not doing his job.

Dre, you and I and a lot of the posters who were in on this thread early, saw this coming. It wasn't a fluke but the organization was set up to be vulnerable this year for various reasons.

The system is a joke. If you get a top three pick, you should be ineligible for another for at least another year or two.

I hear ya S.J....your disaster thread prediction came to fruition. We lost the last 4 games of the season just to tease us for another 8 weeks of a possible pick....even had some thinking we would move up....but in the end we shoulda-coulda lost those 2 games to the Celtics and the Hawks and we would be picking 7th right now....

I remember watching that Phoenix vs Sacramento game because it maybe send us to a tie breaker coin toss for the 7th spot.

Anyway... we get the 38th pick. And the future of the team it wasn't depending of this years draft, to be honest. It's on SVG and what he can do here.

Maybe SVG can talk MJ into trading our pick back to us for Jennings or Josh and some throw ins.....

I'm gonna delurk for a second here to comment on this statement from Van Gundy, via the Freep:

As bad as the disaster zone is, this statement actually makes me feel better. For the first time in a long time it looks like someone's captaining the ship. It's hard to imagine Joe D. coming out with a statement this quickly in response to bad news.

What about trading next year's first rounder and some cash to get stauskas?

This sucks. But for me I am more intriqued by the subtractions to the team then potential additions.

yep...remember we got "lucky" in the 2003 draft and moved up after getting the Blazer pick....Just staying at the 6th pick that year and probably picking Kaman would have paid better dividends.....

We probably would have traded Ben to move up to the 2 pick so that we could have nabbed darko.

I STILL think that the Ben Gordon trade was a good one.
It untied our hands and freed-up the roster for some moves after being unable to make any changes for multiple years.

The problem was that Joe brought in two inefficient square pegs instead of using the Gordon transaction to actually improve the team. There's no possible way that the Pistons should have been back in the lottery this year save for adding the likes of Jennings and Josh Smith to the mix.

I hope that by some stroke of good fortune that Stan Van Jeremy is able to move one or both of these chuckers prior to next season.

Missing out on the lotto is a serious kick in the "Donald Sterling".
    ...dark times man!
