I never said that the WWE and the NBA were the same.

I just said that they are both entertaining.

Do you agree or disagree that both are entertaining?

You have already said the the WWE is entertaining.

    Now the question is:

Do you find the NBA entertaining or not?

You said that basketball is a competition.

I don't disagree with you on that.

The NBA is definitely competition but does that mean that it is not manipulated competition?

Many times in life people compete for something, not knowing that the outcome is being manipulated.

Of course the NBA is a test of skill as are all sports, including chess (LOL), but does that mean it is not entertaining?

i said yes for several reasons. the pistons are all business this year. no one's talking all-star game, no one's talking about last year, no one's talking about getting tired, etc. these games feel different in that we're demoralizing good teams and making them simply give up with full quarters of basketball to go. we've only looked really bad a few times this year. we got rid of nazr and flip's not playing.

and our bench is truly a force. maxiell is playing out of his mind and you lose absolutely nothing when he's on the floor. he's essentially the backup for both the 4/5 which is fine with me with the year he's having. he's no longer a liability on defensive boards or with free throws. afflalo fits in perfectly, doesn't get in the way, plays within the system, and plays outstanding defense.

stuckey adds another dimension, and i firmly believe by the end of the year he's going to help us all but eliminate our offensive lulls with his ability to create his own offense, get in the lane, and draw fouls.

we're no longer giving up tons of points in the paint, and we're no longer giving no-names career scoring nights. in fact, we're making other teams' best players have their worst nights of the season.

another underrated factor is free throws. did you know flip murray is at an atrocious 59.5% this year, and both he and hunter are in the low 70s for their career? afflalo is at 90% for the year, and stuckey was at 85% in college and did even better in the preseason. with maxiell being over 69% in december, we're no longer giving free points away at the line.

and the main difference is, i'm actually exciting watching games this year, when the past few years have been pretty routine and not very exciting.

That is amazing when you think about it. It felt weird that Jersey actually TRIED to come back in the 4th qtr. The thing is that the bench is so good that they don't surrender the lead in the 2nd half. We have started to THINK that certain times of the game are garbage time when they really are not, we're just that good.

I definitely agree that this team has a different feel to it than the teams of the last couple of years.

Now that Stuckey is playing our second unit should not have as many scoring droughts and still be able to maintain a good solid defensive presence.

When you do a search of the term "Hot Rod". You get many unsavory web sites. I don't blame him for rejecting the nickname...........

How about giving some credit to Flip for actually adjusting, whether forced by Joe or not? :stirthepot:

Well, not that much credit. Everyone will give credit to the players and Joe D. if Pistons do well.

As someone stated earlier, the pistons have been quietly handling their business with no fanfare, no talk of all-stars, no whining about lasts year's losses in the ECF, no postering, clarifying, no %%%%%ing, moaning or complaining about Flip using zone vs man to man, (Players seem to have actually bought the entire zone package deal), no racing for 70 wins, and ....drum roll please.............the youngsters are playing legitimate minutes.

The only scary thing about the Pistons success is the fact that Tim Legler picks the Pistons to be in the NBA finals. Talking about a change of pace.

The Pistons are fun to watch this year, I can finally settle down knowing that the bench will come in and actually maintain the lead, the pistons seem to play with a very quiet confidence which is a very good thing.

    Good read Mikhail..

Now we know what to say when Hunter enters the game and a drought begins "the Simple-minded offense" is dooming us. :)

Which leads to another question... The writer says that the Pistons can play well freelancing, but the play better on Flip's set plays, so when Hunter is in, who is calling the plays?

There should be another option that says, yes, something is different. But I don't think we will win the East.

    Boston will win it.

I'd rather have it that way and win the championship.

But something is different with this team. We have a young guy in JMax and two rookies Afflalo and Stuckey who are showing their worth with their hard work.

Dice is starting and is playing well.

Rip, Chauncey,Tay and Sheed, well, nothing much has changed.

Flip is getting buried on the bench. So much for 4th quarter slaughter.

Hunter is getting primed for retirement and probably some coaching or front office position, but defense is still good.

    Amir, getting garbage time.

Nazr, traded and doing well contrary to what we knew him to be here.

    Jarvis is contributing.

    We have Primoz and Wally.

So something's definitely different. Some things the same. But I don't think we will win the East. It doesn't matter anyway, it's the rings.
