If Max Scherzer would have known that he couldn't get to the WS after leaving the Tigers, he would have stayed with us.

He was pitching in the series clincher and rolling along smoothly shutting out the Dodgers, he until Joc Pederson went deep in the 7th to tie the game.....and then in Jim Leyland like fashion, Max gets yanked by Dusty Baker and the Dodgers score three more runs, including the game winner in that hour long 7th inning. Baker loses his ninth straight series clinching game. (that has to be a record?).

One thing Dusty said a couple of days ago was that he was glad that didn't have to see Clayton Kershaw anymore and before he could he could boo there was Clayton pitching relief for the first time since 2009 and got the last two outs and the save. It's the battle of the Blues as the Dodgers try to get back to the World Series for the first time since Kirk Gibson led them to the title in 1988 and Cubs for the first time in forever...

We should look to move Verlander while his stock is as high as it will ever be. That would give us insurance in the future as it is highly likely that he'll either regress or have injury events (due to his age).

Cabrera and VMart are probably untradable due to their age and enormous contracts, so the reality is that we'd have to include underpaid players in a package to induce someone else to take them. Kinsler or JD Mart are the two that are likely to be complements in a trade.

Team needs to get younger and faster. We need more Fulmers and fewer Pelfrys.

Obviously keep the young pitchers and all salary controlled players or high producers, unless we have to include them in a trade package.

Trade Verlander while he's riding high. That is $28MM per year!

Try to trade Cabrera ($28MM), VMart ($18MM), Upton ($22MM), Sanchez ($17MM), Pelfry ($8MM), Lowe ($6MM), etc. Maybe consider trading KRod while

When you look at our production and the salaries, it is clear that we have $50-70MM in deadweight.

The model that we have could have worked, but it didn't. The longer that we stretch it out, the less likely it is to work as players go over the hump and grow complacent. Personally, I don't see Ausmus lighting a fire under anybody, so we need hungrier players.

It was 10 years ago today, but if I am not mistaken, Verlander is the only player still on the team that was wearing a Tiger uniform then.

Gibby pushed over some guy in the '84 clip.

I enjoy the old clips. Would like some new clips before I die.

I just read that Kyle Schwarber is the Cubs all time post season HR leader... After one year in the league where his team only played 2 rounds. That's crazy when you realize they are over a century old.

Looks like a business move to me. Fans don't feel the payroll like the owner does.

Verlander got more first place votes, but not enough to win.

Fulmer did win the ROY, but based on history he will be gone before Verlander or Ausmus.

Verlander, Scherzer, Porcello, and Fullmer would be a nice rotation.
