Guys, I felt like Santa Claus. I checked the forum once. Then I checked it twice. Where is the Red Wings playoff thread? I didn't even realize the series had started until this morning.

    Shame on you.

Wings beat Coyotes down 4-2 in game one. Franzen up to his old tricks.

    Go Wings!

Saw the game last night on VS as it started an hour before the Piston game. Although Jimmy gave up a goal 2 mins into the game, he settled down and waited for his offensive guys to take over. There was one 1 minute 35 second sequence where the Coyotes had a 2 man PP advantage and the defense and Howard stepped up.

The offense took over in the second period and the Wings controlled the game the rest of the way.

Next game not until Saturday??? Gives old Wings some rest and a chance for Zetterberg to play in the series. Got to get that game though and take control of the series.

This is the 20th appearance in a row for the Wings in the playoffs.

That's currently the most by any franchise in the four major sports.

That's why they call it HOCKEYTOWN...Go wings.

I think the Red Wings have been THE top franchise in any of the four American sports measured by the last two decades.

Like you say, 20 years in a row in the playoffs, 4 Stanley Cups, 2 other SC appearances, some of the best players in hockey history on the roster year after year, Yzerman, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg and so many others, many of whom we drafted in the 17 round or something -- a wonderful team to watch and super professional.

Despite the two wns, the Wings looked slow in getting to loose pucks. They need a sweep and need to get that rest before the next series.

Winning on the road is no easy task. I'll take a series win any way you can get it. Some of the moves Datsyk was making yesterday were just ridiculous. I love watching that guy.

What I like is seeing the Bhawks get punked. Ever heard of the "Redwing Corner" ?
The Bhawk announcers kept saying "from the Redwing corner"

Wings win 4-3 to stave off elimination...

All games have been very close, but this time we score the winner with less than 2 minutes left.....

POSSIBLE RETIREES...at end of season...enjoy em while you can...

    Lidstrom - 40

    Draper - 39

    Osgood - 38

    Holmstrom - 38

    Bertuzzi - 36

    Modano - 40

Team would really change without these guys.....

Most of these guys are potential HOF'mers, but their age is showing on the ice and they have only played 8 games in the post season. The Sharks are a step/skate faster. Need to bring some more youth at the skilled positions ...if they can find them.

Great pullout win the end to keep hope alive!! Hopefully the Joe fans get a chance to see them again in game 6!!

they needed 4 goals, first time in 4 games they got it. Can't blame Howard, Wings play and offensive game.

Four goals have been the key number in 4 of the 5 victories.

They need to capitalize on any PP ops
