    Tape review

I only rewatched the first half so far. I am very impressed with Evans in the 2nd quarter. Repeatedly, the Pistons ran plays, and Evans was found in the right spot at the right time to make the shot. And he knocked down all but one. Other than one error on defensive rotation, nothing wrong with his play to report. A pretty darn good quarter of basketball from Evans. Evans also caused a steal and helped to battle on the boards in the quarter. The best was the play at the end of the quarter, where the Pistons called a 20 second tmeout and ran a play which ended up with Evans hitting a layup off a penetration by Arroyo. Lots of crisp play in the quarter. Note, in none of these plays did the Pistons call on Evans to handle the ball. Just get to the right spot, get the pass, and knock down the shot. He did this pretty well. He also impressed Billy Laims with that pullup off his dribble. (He got the pass in the corner, and that was defended so he dribbled in a bit and hit that shot.)

    more review of game

I basically concentrated on Arroyo, and how he played with Evans and Delfino. Delfino entered the game first, then Arroyo joined him a couple of minutes into the 2nd quarter. About 4 plays were ran, with Delfino involved plenty. Arroyo, note, never throws the ball to Evans at this time. Evans is not in the game. Just in case someone might have missed that. We are just up 3 when Arroyo takes over point guard duties for Billups. Arroyo plays the whole quarter, and we end up 19 at the end of the half. A nice little plus 16 for Arroyo.

Now, Delfino sits rather soon after Arroyo enters, and Mo Evans comes into take Delfino't place. Now, the rest of the quarter, Arroyo does not pass Delfino the ball. Thats because Delfino was sitting over on the bench after this point. Again, in case someone missed that fact. But Evans ends up being the shooting hero for the quarter. Arroyo gives one assist to Evans, on that play where Evans cuts inside at the end of the half. Arroyo also passed the ball to Evans in the corner, and Evans missed a wide open triple. Twice, a play was ran where Arroyo ended up passing the ball to Dyess, who quickly relayed it to Evans where Evans made wide open triples. Evans was the featured player on offense from the moment he entered the game. Of course, Arroyo had some brilliant passes to other people too, likes Dyess' dunk. Like the bunny Dale Davis missed. Like the pass that got Davis to the line for two, where he missed both. Yet Evans was the big winner here. He is the guy who was the reciprient of all this fine ball handling by his teammates. To sum it up, for this 9 minutes or so with Arroyo in the game, not once did he not pass the ball to an open man. Whether it be Evans, Delfino, or whoever. A player got open, Arroyo got the ball right to him. With all these assists and fine passes, not one turn by Arroyo.

Now garbage time. Assist from Arroyo to Delfino for a triple. Assist again from Arroyo to Delfino for another made triple. Pass to Delfino again, but he misses the triple this time. Arroyo and Delfino freely share the ball back and forth between one another.

Yeah if the guy is sitting or on the bench he's not getting the ball or is he involved with any play. Point made.
