Just in case the guys on the team have forgotten they are allowed to actually do this: reĀ·bound Basketball To retrieve and gain possession of the ball as it bounces off the backboard or rim after an unsuccessful shot.
McGee and Faried are insane and we have a 6'5" PF and a C that can barely dunk. It wasn't as bad as the LA butt kicking, but pretty close. If you look at the shot chart for Kousus(sp), McGee, and Faried, they had about 15 point blank FGA and none outside of the restricted circle. It's true, we are getting bullied in the paint.
The strange thing to me is that there doesn't seem to be one area anywhere that we are doing even remotely well. Frank preached defence last season and for the moment I would like us to focus on that and just that. If he is going to stick with these rotations, then so be it if it develops some semblance of defensive chemistry. The starters should have this already though, the second unit can be (very remotely) forgiven for the fact that it includes 3 rookies who need a little more time to develop this. I was so excited the way we opened the first game of pre-season - bursting out of the blocks and running the floor and getting all those easy baskets. And with the lack of talent and young raw talent we have, this is essential. In all the games so far, it seems that when we have the rare opportunity to do so, there are always some team members who forget about our need to run and just canter down the court. And of course there is only rare opportunities for this run as our defence sucks a big fat... one. My last word is I LIKE Kenny English. I was a big fan of Afflalo and see lots of him in English - I may even say English is more defensively savvy at the same point of his very short career. Great stroke on his shot which he also gets up pretty quickly. My highlight moment for the whole team in this game was him noticing Drum going past McGee (or Farid) and him get down the whole key to get a hand in and strip it. GREAT work.
Yeah, English seems like he really shoots 3's under control. Very consistent stroke with quick release, medium trajectory and spin. Doesn't look like a shooter that will experience slumps. On D, he's super active. My worry is that he is a little too small to play D like Afflalo or a Bowen type. Those guys really need to be able to guard SF's on switches to be really disruptive.
Yea, agreed but I think his tenacity and IQ will give him every opportunity to do that well enough. Just can't get caught in post up situations.
Things we don't see, or most likely won't see, next game: Monroe and Drummond paired together so we get a decent defense around the basket. English and Knight working together to give us great ball movement and good sound D on the perimeter. JJ at small forward. Things that worked well in the preseason, or in one case in regular season: All of the above. What we will definitely not see next game: Any effort at all by the coach to win the game.
I predicted the "good game for Monroe" .. But I didn't expect to see him score 27 points. Hopes he can repeat it tonight against Cousins... But I hardly think so.. Demarcus always beat him in the stats sheets...
Getting more and more by watching more of his playing, but I like that 2 guys by the first glimpse on court.

CV: "Do you think if I do the Tom Gores head tilt I might get 4.4 seconds worth of playing time?" AD: "It's worth a shot." Both men sheepishly laugh.
