Sounds about right... good to see Carlos playing well... hopefully this translates into success in the best league where they have the physical skills to play man defense.
It's not surprising to see players take off in their 3rd year... maybe this is his time to shine... just want to see it against NBA talent... and more than once every five games.

I would just like to see Carlos play more often than once every five games. I still can't believe that Flip felt that kneepads McGee was better than Delfino.

Evans played better (see stats) so it's not that much of a stretch that Flip played him.

People are still enamoured with Delfino's upside. It's frustration over lack of opportunity, because when he started that Orlando game for Rip, it was quiet as a peep in here. He stunk up the joint and everyone knew it. It's really juvenile that people have to denigrate Mo Evans to make a case for Delfino. Super juvenile.

Regardless, Horace Jenkins is a star in Europe. I'm not sure the Int'l game tells us a lot, except that Delfino is getting a lot of minutes and playing well. How that translates is anyone's guess. Even the NBA hasn't figured out which Euro guys have game that translate to the American game.

    Strange game today against Spain...

    Argentina 67 : 79 Spain

    Delfino: 7 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists
Manu: 1 point, 2 rebounds, 1 assist
    Scola: 5 points, 5 boards
    Nocioni: 15 points, 8 rebounds

For spain, Pau Gasol only had 2 points and 2 boards, so maybe they were resting players?

Not sure on the minutes yet..

I am sure a lot of what I post is immature.

Evans was the best option last season when winning the game at hand was the goal. He did outperform Delfino in every category as was posted here throughout the season. Unfortunatly that did not carry over to the post-season or Evans may still be here.

I am still not totally sold on Delfino. I see he has the talent but can he put it all together and can he handle the pressure? Dumars wants to see and Flip said he will play young guys even at the expense of winning some games. We will see.

evans put up better stats. delfino had more impact on games in my opinion.

yes. but when delfino was locking up superstars nobody wanted to talk about that either. the same people that shoot venom at delfino weren't calling for him to get more pt then. the fact is when delfino did well flip didn't do anything to keep that momentum going he hurried up and got his boy mo evans back into the game. that's what built the mo evans/ deflino conflict and that made people take sides.

yup. wade, lebron, melo, amare are bench warmers in the euro game. even the nba hasn't figured out which nba players translate to the euro game.

No, fans just get really petty when they start taking sides. Like when mlive Jack comes here to post his kneepad nonsense.

Yeah, they were bench warmers to AI, Starbury, Odom, Duncan and Boozer. Not a bad cast of characters to play second fiddle to.

I'm just curious to know who will be big enough to admit how petty they are if Evans plays well in LA and Delfino struggles again this year to get minutes. Whose fault with that be? Ronald Dupree?

Wish Carlos well, whether on the court, by buyout, or trade.

That's an understatement. How could he not play this guy when he was seeing him every day? Idiot

I'll be very surprised if that happens, but if it does i'm sure people will just say that the only reason that is happenening is because Delfino has to xompete with better players for minutes.

I would not be surprised at all if Mo scores more than Delfino. That's not what this team needs to from Carlos though. Flip Murray can score most of the bench points as far as the gaurd position goes, but Delfino needs to slash, and creat plays for others as well as play defense and rebound.

If Evans plays well, and Delfino struggles, then I'll admit that I was absolutely wrong and should quit commenting on who the coach should or should not be playing, but I doubt I'll be proven wrong.

If Delfino can produce the way he is doing in Argentina than I would say our bench is solid. Hopefully Delfino will be playing 18-25 mins and averaging around 8 pts.

It seems obvious, barring injury, Delfino will be a major contributor next year off of the bench. The only question is, what in the world was going through Flip's mind last year when he didn't play him (and don't even get me started on Darko).

I have a feeling this season could be Flip's worst nightmare. If Darko booms, and Delfino plays well, everyone is going to be asking him why he didn't play them last year. And Flip will give his "well, they just weren't ready, and they had guys ahead of them, and minutes were hard to come by."

At least we kept Delfino. Let's hope Amir pans out.

Played well against Slovenia today. I think he has 14 pts and shot more than 50% again. Outscored Manu again. Argentina was down before Delfino came in as a sub. Since his entrance into the game, Argentine took the lead and never look back. Definitely brought some energy into the game.

Watching Spain against Serbia now. Wow, Darko definitely put on some weight since I saw him still wearing the Pistons uniform early this year.

yup. delfino brought that energy off the bench for us a few times last year but never saw the court the game after that. i think he's going to be a super sub for us this year. i've always told people that delfino can score he just isn't a microwave/delk type player he needs to play to produce. no 5 minutes every other 5 games stuff.

I don't think the "specialist" thing really happens in the NBA, but maybe someone can come up with a good example. I can't think of any players who have made an impact getting 5 minutes here and there--at that level, you're treated as an interchangable part on the bench.

As for the Microwave, he did come in shooting away, but he also never had to worry about his shot getting cold on the bench: he averaged 26 minutes per game during his 9 years as a Piston (basketball-reference.com), which is about 2/3 of the minutes you would expect from a starter.
