    Thanks @TaS@TaS.

My memory goes back to the Bad Boys. We were a tough franchise. The Bad Boys would go on the road and teams were actually intimidated by us. The game was won mentally before tipoff.

That playoff run was magical. Man, we were good. We played with so much energy.

Going to make it that much harder to watch today's game against the Nets after watching that vid of beating the Bucks.

All respect to Kelser, but Laimbeer and Mahorn were far superior partners for Blaha.

I respect how our announcers keep it neutral. League pass had made me realize how obnoxious homer announcers are when they aren't yours. It is fun to listen to them though when you agree with them.

Man that was an amazing run. The unselfish play, the constant ball movement, the scrappy defense, and the camaraderie among the players. Yeah, we did get spoiled, didn't we?

I didn't see much in that video that would be against the current NBA rules.

I obtained copies of all the games from the Nets and Pacers series a few years ago and have been meaning to re-watch them. Thanks for the reminder @TaS@TaS

Around here we call that the "Buffoonery Era". Everything post Flip Saunders to the arrival of SVG.

It's interesting in hindsight when you know the outcome. Different things stand out.

To me, the swarming defense and the oftentimes clumsy half court offense are apparent. They shot a lot of nasty bricks when it wasn't clicking... But they made up for it and more on the business end of the court.

Those series were both absolute battles. The Finals was the most lobsided of all our rounds that season.

Good post. I like the best the part where you acknowledge Sheed's impact in Pistons defense.

Did somebody else mention also that we need a player like Rasheed Wallace to pair up with Drummond?

3 point shooting PF who could defend and rebound.

Ersan was a straight up Gangsta. We were a much better team with him than we have been this season.

I totally agree with this. But good defender? His "defense" consisted just on trying to draw charges. He was a good shooter, though. Reminded me of Memo.

Yes, he was. What a bench did we have in 2004!

Sometimes it's very painful to bring back good memories in difficult times.

I find maintaining a perpetual state of delusion quite wonderful personally.

Also, I am a huge fan of placebos.

Ersan wasn't a lockdown defender. But positionally he was rarely caught out. He just looked bad every time he got switched on to Dame Lillard types. Those guys are super hard to play 1 on 1 by the best defenders in the league though.

He didn't just try to draw charges. He actually drew them, at league high rates. Foul on the other team, no shot and possession? There is literally no better way to play defense.

He set screens, he could shoot from distance, decent mid range game. Not a superstar, but the type of guy you definitely want taking up minutes as a role player on your team.

I like Ersan too but I don't t think that he is Rasheed Wallace.

However, not keeping him was a mistake.
