I know coaches in the past have came up with a quick answer on how they are going to use the bench and minimize the starters minutes. I know Pistons fan are tired of seeing the starters be dead tired in the middle of the season or the start of the playoffs. Well this year's new coach Mike Curry has a great idea on using the whole team effiecently. "I think looking at our guys, we have 10 guys that have been playing minutes at times throughout," Curry said. "Our goal is to not set a number, but to prepare guys to play certain roles." “I’ve told our players this summer when I’ve talked to them, we have a very talented team; not just our starting five,” Curry said. “Sometimes you’re going to come out of the game not because you’re tired or because you made mistakes, but because it’s time for other guys to get a chance to get out on the court and play and perform as well. "Even in summer league, we gave guys a lot of opportunities," Curry said. "We didn't just jack them out if they made a mistake. But if you come out of a time-out, or you start a game off or a quarter off, making mistakes out of something we just went over, that's just a lack of concentration and focus. So there's no need to have that person in the game at that time." "They're going to have to come and regroup themselves. It's on us (coaches) to make sure our guys are in the condition that they need to be in at a level we want them to play at. And if they're not, we have to make sure someone else is in there." I feel that M.C., other than Chuck Daly, is going to turn out to be a great coach for us and bring our baby back home (Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy). I think this season we are going to see our Pistons back with defense, offense, and their all around game as a team.
I have a good feeling about MC too! At least he's saying the right things and there doesn't appear to be a need for a "Quote Translator" like we needed with Flip.
Roscoe36 and BallDon'tLie...I'm so so sorry for forgetting LB aka Pound 4 Pound. I was in a rush to go somewhere when I was posting this! I should just do this to myself for forgetting my favorite coach of all-time!! I cried when he left!
I did, but I also reiterated how crooks are OK with me as long as they bring me titles... I'm not jumping in on this one. I"m dad by the side of the pool...just watching to make sure nothing goes wrong. I"m please at this point and time and I"m not fanning the flames on LB cause Dolphin is outta here.
Senator Curry is sounding like a politician....making promises that he might not be able to commit to until he sees how his starters and bench mesh...
You can't judge Curry's coaching style, bench minutes, rotations, etc. until he's actually coached a couple of games. Until he's earned more career coaching wins than Darth Tater or Jammertime, it's all just talk.
I hear what you're saying... but I will still give him an A-. My only complaint is that he could have talked about playing Amir a little more often and echoed Cowens positive comments about Brown. I like that he hasn't lost any games at home yet.
Thank god. I got migraines trying to figure out what he was really trying to say. I still remember that quote where he was using an analogy talking about a winding road, or a clear path, something like that . . .
Curry has been talking a lot about his plans but perhaps thats inexperience? See now if he does not follow through then thats something he will have to answer for. Its hard to say what the seasons going to be like until you get there.
Your very correct!! I guess she didn't see the second time we played the Lakers on Jan. 31st.....Arron stole the ball from Kobe three times!!!
