Chaz is keeping us in it with -13 in 6:28.
Drummond made his first 9 shots. Plus, he actually made a free throw. He is not helping the cause.
(Posted with 1:03 left in the 3rd) OK, so Drummond's gonna sit the entire 4th Q right?
Middleton -23. Toxic performance! I am still frothing at the mouth over Drummond. 19/8/1 on 90%fg in 26 minutes.
Wow, how can you be -23 when your team is winning? Now, he's down to -25. He needs to stay in the game.
These teams are going to start shooting at their own baskets any second now.
Keep K-Mid in there!
Ill take the win if it means we see more of Moose & Dre actually working together. And Dre flattening teams on his own. The whole world can't wait to see what that guy can do next season.
Wow...hack a Dre...no respect for Scott.
There is obviously a reason that Tidbits is leaving him in
I feel pretty sorry for Maggette.
Screw tanking. CLE wants it more, they can have it. Drummond just rammed it down there throats all day long, and he hit his FTs! So glad we didn't have to settle for Meyers Leonard, or skilled/unathletic and weak stiffs such as the Zeller bros.
Monster games by the Piston Towers as Dre scores a career high 29 points and grabs 11 boards. Moose chipped in 23 pts and 8 boards. In addition to the 18 by Stuckey, Will Bynum came of the bench to score 16, to make up for the dreadful shooting of Singler and BK7 who were a combined 3 for 18. Byron Scott gave the impression that he did not want to tank this game by employing the hack-a dre with a little more than 5 minutes left in the game. We can't say it worked in BScott's favor or not since Dre hit 8 out of 16 at the line and nailed the last two freebies just before the two minute mark. Like I said, BScott may have been glad Dre made most of those shots during that pivitol stretch where either team could have won it. But it appears that even though the Pistons got the victory, looks like the Cavs may have come close to securing that 4th spot. The Suns have lost 10 in a row, and will probably fold tonight in Dallas now that they have seen that the Cavs have lost. Despite 2 straight wins, the Pistons still hold on the 5th spot with 3 games to go. The Kings and Hornets who hold 7th and 6th spots play each other tonight and the Pistons need a Hornets win to maintain the 5th spot.
Might as well not even hope for it, because even if it happens, it's not going to last. Detroit plays Philly and Charlotte before Brooklyn; they're going to finish the season 4-1 and they'll be lucky to stay in the top 7. That win against Chicago hurt. That being said, if Drummond stays in this form, it's almost worth it to get a glimpse of what he and Monroe can be down the line. Monster game from both tonight. His free throws don't even look that bad, and if he can get them to at least 60%, then he's going to be a beast for years to come.
It shouldn't surprise Piston fans to see what Drummond and Monroe can do. That is what we will see a lot more of. They can begin to dominate certain teams in the league. But Drummond and Monroe came through lottery picks. And the Pistons were lucky to get either or them at their draft position at that time. But the Pistons need people in the skilled positions. Look at the 2011 lottery. A very weak lottery. But still look at the difference in Irving at the 1st pick and Knight at the 8th pick. Knight was an ok pick but he doesn't have the huge upside and current ability as Irving. I see what Cleveland is doing. They got Irving but the Pistons got the 2 bigs. Edge to the Pistons. The Pistons need to draft a guard or a small forward. They should not let the fact that they have Knight stop them from adding talent at the skilled positions. Nor should they rely on Calderon who is 31.
Yes, it looks like the Pistons may win three in a row with Charlotte.
QFT Philly are going to beat us, Charlotte is a coin toss, Brooklyn will flog us.
A lot of the final couple of games for all teams will depend on what is at stake. Some playoff teams will rest their stars if their playoff seed cannot be improved.
I'd rest out the season if I were coaching the Heat. They can use the first round to get back in shape.
In the end, Cleveland just gave the game to us. Its great to see Drummond get better at the line. Now can he do that when he only gets to the line a few times a game? Just maybe, as he was hitting half his free throws all night, not just after getting several repetitions. And great to see him hit those last two. What a monster stat for our two bigs. About 50 / 20. Just Cleveland though, and without Mophead. Bynum did one thing right, he hit his shots. Otherwise, he would have been well below worthless in this one. Too much of him guarding a guy a foot taller. Look, our bench has been having 50 point games while Bynum was out. We started out terrible in this one as our bench rotated in with Bynum out there. We have no need for him on this team. Middleton keeps making shots. And doing pretty darn good on D. Knight stunk it up pretty good. Stuckey did great. Now just give him a shooting guard, like Middleton, to start along side him and you have something. As for who we should draft. I say just use Stuckey at point. Trade Knight for a 3rd big. Draft a small forward. Use Middleton as the starting shooting guard to give us a height advantage there. Starters next year: Stuckey, Middleton, new guy from the draft, Monroe, Drummond. Throw JJ into that trade by the way. Hustles, but hey hey, what position can he actually defend in this league. Please let CV go. His defense in this one was so atrocious it just shows you why he should never of have been brought here. On Joe Dumars, sure he has done a horrid job as a GM, in terms of making this team better. Yet he does choose his scouting department people, and they keep having us draft some pretty good picks, so I will give him some credit, though very little.
