Tobias Harris got just under 40 minutes. Draw your own colnclusions from that.
That was a passive-aggressive on the officiating. Telling the players they should expect favoritism toward LeBron. There are times when Reggie Jackson reminds me a bit of Lance Stephenson. I do like the backpack during the interview though. I think this would also be a great look for SVG. Sipping a gallon of Gatorade with a backpack on. That would work.
I wonder if he will get fined for that.
I don't know if we'll see the ref that BlueV demanded a tech from again. But if he saw something that needed addressing he's gotta do what he's gotta do. I think all he said was,"quit f'ing us".
I don't think he'll be fined. He was saying it was good officiating.
using reverse logic on them aye ?
SJ is out of your dog house? Last week, you didn't even want him to play in the playoff games.
After the scathing halftime remarks, SVG did sort of backtrack after the game....perhaps he was hoping to protect his bank account. "Look, I thought it evened out really well," Van Gundy said. "But early on, I thought there were two pretty obvious offensive fouls down there on him."
Like you and other great coaches, I make gametime adjustments in my attitudes. Only a fool adopts a permanent fixed position on a player regardless of how that player actually plays. Only the most foolish of the fools does stuff like that. Harris was really bad and outmatched against Love. I am not sure that SJ would have given us more, but he is much more physical than Harris, and I am an old school Bad Boys guy, if all else fails, rough somebody up.
I think you guys are reading way too much into this.
I thought the "Dirtroit" hat was in extremely poor taste. That sounds like derogative our opponents would use.
That play in the 4th Q where Reggie ended up on LeBron and LBJ backed him down in the post was pretty funny. I haven't seen that kind of resistance since the Anglo-Zanzibar War in 1896.
Woody Paige on Around the Horn...."Lebron was like a raging bull in a china shop, getting every call ----even in the 4th quarter even when he wasn't shooting, they still sent him to the FT line. Pistons only chance to win in Cleveland was yesterday and now it's never going to happen again." All agreed it was not a coaching loss, but the team melted including the RJ who should have never gotten upset enough to get a tech. They also concurred with us at the forum agree that this led to the hero attitude that sank us in the end.
Sry @LA Dre team had iced up so bad BlueV had no other option. But himself.
Kevin Love playing like the old Love is a matchup nightmare. TT played the first 3 Q's but not the 4th - that was the only significant stretch they played Love at the 5. If you want Dre to guard someone else it has to be Shumpert, Jefferson or JR Smith. Clearly those guys are just going to sit in the corner waiting for an open 3. Are you expecting Dre to go out and guard those guys or just leave them open in order to protect the rim? Unless Dre is really holding his own on offense we may have to (gulp) consider downsizing as well. Consider: RJ - Shump KCP - Irving SJ - LeBron TH - Jefferson/Smith MM - Love SJ has shown he is willing to battle LeBron better than anyone else on the roster and Morris is stronger than Harris so would have the best chance at guarding Love on both his postups and on the perimeter. RJ on Shumpert is almost a dream matchup for us on D. I felt like the Pistons were far to eager to switch the 1/5 and 1/4 pick n roll. Jackson was constantly switching onto the big and getting abused or Kyrie torching the big. It may be Stan's gameplan to do this but I prefer for RJ to fight through more of these and not take the path of least resistance. Secondly, it wasn't like Love only got off in the 4th. Dre was on TT in the first 3 Q's and Love routinely backed down Tobias at will scoring easy buckets inside. I don't know what the answer is for this lineup, but I think Morris has to guard him, which means either Harris or SJ on LeBron. LeBron played 40 minutes so I think we need to continue playing multiple guys on him (Harris, SJ). Even when Dre was on TT, TT was a constant handful on the boards so I don't know that we can change that matchup.
Zone would eliminate the switches as well and we could hide Reggie.
I have not seen any NBA team incorporate zone for more than a couple of minutes to throw a wrench to stop momentum. I doubt we would be smart enough to pull it off.
If only we had a savant for a coach, like Milwaukee does.
We could hire one out of Flint...
