His 2nd and 3rd jumps are simply ridiculous! The more I see Drummond play the more I understand why he fell to us. This kid has a ton of physical tools and gifts, he's big, strong, extremely fast, quick, has a solid feel for the game, a great soft touch around the rim that Shaq and Dwight Howard can only dream about and jumps so high that he can get his whole head above the rim from a standing jump........but with all of that he still hasn't figured out how to put it all together on a consistent basis. I picture Drummonds game a like a big puzzle with all the pieces spread apart, some people take those puzzles and put them together quickly, some take a little longer than others and some never put the puzzle together. I sure hope Drummond learns how to put it all together because if/when he does.......We very well could the most dominant big man in the NBA.

That was just a pre-contract-year bump.

I just uncovered a depressing reality-
In 8 home games this year, the Detroit Pistons have a total attendance of 98,097. That means they'll need one more game to exceed the attendance of 1 Michigan football game.

However, in order to get the same attendance, they had to book Bobby Brown, Styx- Mr. Roboto play, T-Pain, first 15 minutes of Michael Jackson documentary on jumbo tron, the (other) Wiggles, Vanilla Ice, Austrailian Pink Floyd, Rob Zombie- acoustic set, and a halftime petting zoo.

Did anyone notice the no look pass by Monroe to Andre Drummond? That was amazing to see. If they're showing this much chemistry early on, just imagine how much impact they're gonna make next season!

I'm too lazy to look it up but I'm guessing that what he produced was about 6 points and around 5 boards; - essentially what he always produces.
...unless its a contract year, then his production tends to spike at about a 20% higher level (again - not looking it up).
...only to come back down to Earth once the deal is signed and he has some cheddar to go out and add to his collection of classic hot rods.

Fast forward to late June, 2013: DON'T (expletive) DO IT JOE!!!

Did they really have a halftime petting zoo?

Speaking of no-looks, the dime that Drummond had to BoT was real nice.
I could have done without the little And-1 Mixtape dance that he did after the pass but it was a great play.

I'm glad that Dre's having fun out there but he needs to act like he's been there before (...even though he hasn't been there before).

    ...sick pass though.

    Here you go sports fans:

    Per 36

    Year: Pts/ FG%/ Reb/ Blk/ JS%/ % J's/ PER (JS%= jump shot FG%, %J's = % of shots attempted that were outside the paint)
    2006: 13.6/ .426/ 6.3/ 1.1/ .303/ 61%/ 8.0
    2007: 12.8/ .500/ 7.1/ 2.3/ .395/ 44%/ 14.4
    2008: 13.3/ .538/ 8.8/ 1.9/ .414/ 48%/ 16.7
    2009: 11.6/ .575/ 8.3/ 1.6/ .349/ 39%/ 15.8
    2010: 11.9/ .511/ 9.3/ 0.9/ .389/ 54%/ 14.0
    2011: 9.2/ .492/ 6.7/ 0.8/ .379/ 46%/ 9.4
    2012: 10.4/ .478/ 8.2/ 1.2/ .407/ 59%/ 11.7
    2013: 11.9/ .511/ 8.7/ 2.1/ .427/ 61%/ 13.8

Judging by all of this, it looks like hit best years were 2007-2010, followed by this year so far. I included jump shot FG% and shot attempt % to see his improved J in black and white. 2 years in a row shooting over .400 for a PF with 60% of his attempts coming from there isn't too bad. I think that it probably helps the team quite a bit when he can fill that mid range gap and stretch the D out of the paint a little bit.

2011 and 2012 were just down years for him for some reason. Maybe he wasn't being used correctly, maybe he was out of shape, I have no idea. This is a player that needs to be shooting over .500 overall IMO to be valuable. He also needs to be blocking shots like he is doing this year and used to to in the baby eating days (2007-2009). His rebounding is what it is- i.e. really amazing for his height, but less than what you'd want from a PF.

I really like Maxiell as a backup PF long-term if we can resign him for less than he's currently at.

When did they do the Styx - Mr. Roboto dealie? That is the 1st concert I ever went to. They didn't have an opening act, they played a movie!

That's why they have Dee Brown working with him.

For someone so raw Drummond has a lot of nuance to his game.

Having a Per 36 stat for Maxiell is an inaccurate measurement of his capabilities.
If JMax ever played 36 minutes, he'd need to have an oxegen tank strapped to his back and that would limit that incredible vertical leap that he has.

It does seem like his minutes per game are up this year though.

My theory is basically that Maxiell's stats depend mostly on how much the coaches decided to play him. There isn't a ton of variation in his per/min stats over the years. Used /36 because they have already been calculated. Divide by 2 if you want.

Definitely a nice pass, but I had the notion watching it that he looked at Monroe, threw the pass, then looked away. And he is unfortunately adopting the Charlie V look-away which is to throw the pass, then look away with a really goofy expression.

Drummond's pass was pretty clever too. Do you realize how hard it is to set Villanueva up for a non alley oop dunk in the half court set?

No thank you. That jumpshot from the free throw helps his case, but it just isn't enough. The guy's PER is consistently below 15. He actually brings nothing to the table for me unless he is super cheap. We can get better than his production for what he is worth.

Gores will need to reel in the very sentimental Dumars on the Maxi deal.
