I've liked the Bulls for some time.
Looks like they've got some issues this year.
A 6-5 record seems low for their talent level.
Rose hobbled off the last game.
Nobody on the Bulls has any real dominating stats.
Kinda reminds me of the 2004 Pistons.

    At the Palace so...........Pistons 99 - Bulls 97

D-rose tweaked his knee so it looks like he's prolly out for a few more seasons.
Maybe we'll get to see our man Mike James run the show for the Bulls for a while.

Just watched the Clippers blow out the Bulls by 39 points...as they played their first game without the DRose.

We don't have the same fire power as the Clippers, but I would be satisfied with a 9 point win over them. They have great defense, or shooters have to make them and our bigs cannot be afraid of Noah or Boozer... The Clippers won because they didn't wait for the Bulls to set up. Whether it was a bull miss or make, there was always a man racing down the court looking for the outlet pass. I know we can do it.....

I tend to agree with ESPN. Its not Rose that Chicago is missing the most, its Nate Robinson. Because he is the only guy on that team (apart from Rose) who can create his own shot effectively. So when everything breaks down, now, they have no go to guy off the bench who can kick start their offense. That team is in serious trouble. Teague is inexperienced and James is old and slow.

I reckon we swoop in and offer Bynum + Villenueva for Deng. They get some outside shooting and a good backup PG and we get a 3 + D wing on an oversized contract for a year. We might even be able to resign him.

I'm sure that's how the Bulls will see it when the Pistons call them with this offer.

This is a big game against a wounded division rival that the Pistons are chasing in the standings!

Now that they're in the 8th spot we'll have to wait and see how they'll respond to being the hunted instead of the hunter.

This young team is going to need the steady leadership of coach Maurice Cheeks in this one!

Sorry, I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic or not. I might be trying to make the trade too good for us. But I honestly think that Deng would be a good player to pursue in trade. The Bulls are not going to resign him. And they need cap relief now to try and fill the Rose void.

How about Singler + Villenueva + Bynum for Deng and Teague (?). The Bulls get to shave $5m off their payroll, get under the tax threshold. It means Butler takes the lion share of minutes at the 3, but they have a decent back up (Singler), a good Nate rob role replacement in Bynum, and a floor stretcher 4 for when they put Bynum on. In return, we get a solid option at the 3 who we might be able to tempt with a 4yr/35-40m contract afterward.

    Our starters should then be

    Jennings
    Pope
    Deng
    Smith
    Drummond

Monroe will play 32+mpg off the bench. Lee356 will be happy because Siva will get minutes as backup point, plus we will actually get to see Chauncey playing in the right position. It takes Smith out of the 3 for large stretches of the game. Singler gets to be Singler somewhere else.

With the right coaching, that is a top 5 seed in the playoffs, easy.

@The PandaThe Panda I like Deng, but isn't he an All Star? They're not going to trade him for Bynum and Chuckles.

Nope. All rookie team and 1 time all defensive 2nd team. The guy is far from a superstud - although the SF position is stacked outside of Detroit. But he is a solid player at the 3. And he is consistently good there.

I'm trying to be objective here, but that isn't a bad trade in my eyes. It still gives them a big expiring to chase FA's next season, plus the immediate cap relief to get under the tax. We know the owner is a bit stingy and doesn't like paying tax.

Villenueva isn't the player that they are desperately wanting. He is just there to cap fill and give them a big expiring. Maybe toss in our second rounder next year. Singler is good for 15mpg. Bynum is good for 20mpg if you want to play him that much and he can create his own shot and cause defences to collapse. He is perfect as a spark plug off the bench.

You want to trade for Deng then lets start with 6th MOY candidate and his expiring contract, Joggin' Rod Stuckey.

Where will Deng and Smith play?

Deng is 29 years and a FA....I was thinking the same while watching the Bulls game yesterday that he could solve some of our issues and mid season trade should be considered depending on Rose's recovery.... I just figured that the Bulls wouldn't want to give us anything that would give us the advantage.

One thing that should help a team short on guards is trading 2 guards for 1 SF.

Why would Chicago trade Luol Deng for cap relief this summer? He is an expiring contract too. They're much better off trading for an great impact player, or do a S&T in the summer. Having a Deng expiring is more flexible than having Stuckey+CV expiring.

Chicago would be better off dumping Gibson or Boozer's contracts. Neither of which we have a need for.
