As opposed to the throng of free agents that lined up at the door when we were in the midst of our ECF's streak?
Dice was the last free agent of worthy that was signed in the summer months and home boy C-Webb during a mid season contract buyout. Other than that everyone else were journeymen at best who didn't need a lot of money, just a team to play for and collect a check; Kwame, Jarvis, Mo, and Tony Delk. Yep we will have mo money this time, but we also got mo problems such as coaching, arrogant and tired vets and unproven youngsters. Joe will have to convince those FA that they can make a difference despite our perceived deficiencies. A coaching change may be part of it depending on how we fare in the playoffs and how much bad press the AI fiasco causes...players talk too and that is why we have had issues before attracting premium players despite our success. Not sure what AI will say in the off season but I am sure he won't give us an A grade....
I'm not so sure that most of NBA players feel sympathy towards AI; only 4-5 teams have solid base either in terms of coaching, or lockerroom climate or roster. Most of NBA teams are there where Pistons is now - somewhere in between with everything.
Yes thats the thing about it. Curry will probably find a way to spoil it. Still does not seem right to root against them - I just can't do it. Besides the offseason is not going to come any sooner if they do not make the playoffs. Its only a difference of 2 draft spots anyway. If it is the Cavs then hopefully the remaining guys will feel as though they deserve a little payback and at least extend the series. Like they did to us when the roles were reversed in 05.
