Will he or should he, be the next one traded? Based on the below article:

    http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_4035153

there is good chance he will opt out of his contract, presumably for a higher pay day. This situation seems in keeping with the Pistons MO of not getting into max contract situations.

This Marc Spears that wrote this article is probably snooping around where he doesn't belong. He's probably a spy for the Nuggets. Spreading misleading lies. If we can link him to the Nuggets we can discredit him and maybe get the Nuggets in trouble for tampering. Could be a big fine!

if we trade him, it should be now or at least until February. Given the fact that he was mentioned in the MVP- talks his value can only become lower unless he has another good or even better season this year.
I think it's time to shake up the team little bit, the only one that should be kept unless there's a really good opportunity are RIP and Tayshaun.

We should not trade him unless it's obvious at the trade deadline that we're out of the hunt. But this makes Joe's search for a backup point guard even more important.

Someone on this board will analyze the cap situation of other teams and come up with a list of potential bidders for him next summer. He won't get a huge deal from us.

    Forget about it!
    He's not going anywhere.
They're just noting he has an opt out clause.
The Pistons will probably go 80 over 4 or 5. You can't let talent like that walk. Even though 15 teams might bid for him.

"It's probably a pretty good chance that I will opt out if everything goes the way we hope it will," he said.

The above is Chauncey's quote, not simply an acknowledgement that he has an opt out clause.

It's about the money in the first year if he opts out, as well as the security of getting a new guaranteed deal.

If CB doesn't opt out and gets hurt, his future earnings sink like a stone.

    From DetNews:

    Billups refreshes
"Billups, back home in Denver this week, told the Denver Post that he was burned out last season.
"Honestly, I didn't take (the early exit) that hard because, myself personally, I was spent," he told the paper. "I was coming into games mentally strong and ready. And my body just wouldn't let me do what I do. I was just tired. Just burned out, and I've never had that feeling before."
Billups said he was feeling much better now.
"My body is rested," he said. "I've licked my wounds and I'll be back ready again."

Gee Chauncey, I'm glad that you didn't take the early exit "that hard." Hope you're feeling better, buddy.

Really Zoo. And maybe that's why all his teammates went south. He couldn't pass either so his head wasn't strong. Musta been BBeen's angst killing the lockerroom.

Re: CB, CNote, Bup-Bup, CBill#1 and the Mayor or Mr. Big Head

Right, so he can be paid now. He can negotiate with the Pistons before anyone else sticks their nose in. So they better not tamper.
BBeen will be like, So that's why they couldn't pay me.
When can we start courting him? :^)]

Joe, better talk with him and get a general idea of what sort of ball park he is thinking about. Don't want another one to get away without anything in return.

There will be plenty of soft-shoe going on but I think JD will shut it down quickly. With big media announcement. Another term for the Mayor.

    1. He's not a 20 PPG scorer.
    2. He's only had one great season passing.
    3. His FG% is nothing to write home about.
    4. He only plays on one side of the ball.
    5. He's not capable of playing 36 MPG without fatigue
    6. He plays with 3 All-Stars.

No way you max this guy out.

Agree. But I bet there are five teams out there that would do it today. More if he shoots a little better next year and keeps the assists up and turns down.

I would change No. 3 to say: "His FG% is nothing to email home about."

Nobody writes letters anymore. C'mon, get with it.

Still, CB is a proven entity on a team with a lot of unprovens once you get past Dyess, Tay, Sheed and Rip.

If it ain't rough it ain't right, and if it ain't right, that's fine too.

I used to follow a Pistons team whose point guard sat down in the locker room and cried like a baby when they fell short of the title. I miss those days.

    Re: Cb/Roscoes lie post!

    1. On the most balanced O in the league no one does 30 regularly!
    2. Ok only one GREAT season but 4 extremely good seasons running the O.
    3. Right 3rd best court stretcher with his 3 bombs. That should cost him a couple mill. right there!
    4. The league is currently about one side of the ball. No need for BBeens anymore, right?
    5. With 80 playoff games maybe there is something to that. Thanks for the winning play CB. Now go work out with RIP.
    6. 3 lower level all-stars and Tay is a up and comer. And if we lose him he'll be playing with one all-star, maybe. Doesn't that sound nice; we have 4 all-stars!
    -----------------------
Is that all the dirt you can dig up?
Not going to mock his family are you? I know you better.

Ditto. At one time, winning and losing meant more than contracts for the game's elite.

Quite frankly, I can do without all of the hugging that goes on before and after each game. They don't have to hate each other, but make it seem like more than a friendly game for the love of Nevitt.
