What a fine game by Rafalski. 2 goals and assist.
Canadians just don't have the manhood the Americans have. You know things like intelligence, speed, power and agility.

Americans are now #1 seed. Bring on the Ruskies.

Ryan Miller of East Lansing (MSU) and the Buffalo Sabres was INCREDIBLE.

It was a great win for the Americans. :)

A lot of hockey left to be played. USA could still end up with nothing. Don't count out the Cannuckians for the gold yet.

Pretty darn good game win or lose.

I got the feeling that I was watching a Red Wing playoff game (with team Canada playing the part of the Wings). Canada clearly has the better roster and out-shot the heck out of the USA squad only to get shut down by a scrappy young roster and a hot goalie.

I hope that these two teams meet up again in the medal round.

I think the empty net goal was the back breaker, with a 9 goal differenial we get the 1 seed and the weakest opponent. Yeah maybe the Cans. again.

As far as empty netters go, that was a pretty sick goal!
...an all-out hustle to the puck with diving poke to get it on net.

If the USA can win their quarterfinal against the Switzerland/Belarus winner, they will probably play Finland in the semifinals. Finland will be favored in this game.

Hm, isn't the czechs on that half? They are a far stronger team than Finland and so is USA. Finland have no forwards close to the class of Parise, Kane etc (oldtimers like Selanne are as close as they come), Miller is stronger than Kiprusoff this season and the fins biggest weakness is their defenders. They looked really bad against Sweden yesterday actually.

The Czechs vs. Finland could be a good quarterfinal game. Finland was the #4 seed coming into the games. Not that it means a whole lot now, but the USA was the #6 seed coming into the games.

The three top teams (Canada, Russia, Sweden) are all on the other half of the draw.

The hockey team may come through before it's all said and done.

I seriously doubt Canada really thought it was going to win the medal count.

DD - Canada spent $117M to own the medals podium.
Cherry - Heads will roll if we don't win hockey gold.
DD - USA is spanking everyone. They have the majority of the medals.
