Hearing that teams ahead of the Pistons looking for a point guard are starting to like MCW more than Burke. Something about advanced analytics. If someone ahead of us bites on that garbage, Trey might fall right into our laps. I'd be fine with him or McCollum, but I guess I'd be happier to get Burke.

    C: A. Drummond, V. Kravtsov(?)
    PF: G. Monroe, J. Jerebko, C. Villanueva(?)
    SF: K. Singler, K. Middleton
    SG: B. Knight, K. English
    PG: T. Burke, R. Stuckey(?)

Wouldn't be a bad base to start with. Hopefully Cheeks would be the right coach to develop Burke. Amnesty Charlie-V. Buy-out Rodney. Bring in a good veteran (like Billups ~ perfect) to help Tre' develop. Find a third big that brings a little more to the table than Max. Look for wings that can spread out the court with shooting and defend their positions in FA/through trades.

    Right?

I prefer Zeller ahead of Burke at this point. Everytime I hear Burke's name, I think of Calbert Cheney. I could never figure out why that guy didn't go #1 and why he fizzled in the NBA but I never paid much attention to basketball before coming to this forum. Only the college game is different from the pros.

Its real difficult to predict how a guy will adapt. He could be great. I think my best scenario this offseason is CJ Mccollum and Iguodala.

Mo Cheeks and Trey Burke? Interesting. I would then do the following to Orlando:
Offer #1: Knight and Stuckey to Orlando for Alf. I'm sure they'd hang up on us and then die laughing.
Offer #2: Knight for Alf, straight up. Possible, but not likely.
Offer #3: Burke and Stuckey for Alf. I'd play hardball and pretend like this is my FINAL OFFER!!!
The real Final offer: Burke for Alf.

    PG: Knight / Re-sign Bynum
SG: Alf / Singler / English / Stuckey
SF: I'd try and sign Iggy / Middleton
PF: Monroe / I'd try and sign Milsap / JJ / CV
    C: Drummond / TRG

LOL at the fact that Joe would be trading a lotto pick for a guy that he essentially gave to Denver for free.

Joe? What the heck does Joe have to do with anything? I'm talking about ME! Heck I would have NEVER GIVEN THE GUY AWAY!!!

But what if Joe did? Joe would be giving away a lotto pick, for a guy he gave away because of bringing in a guy who he later traded away and had to essentially give up another lotto pick to get rid of the guy who he brought in to do what a guy who we already had on our team could do for a lot cheaper!!!

If Orlando drafts McLemore its not such a stretch to imagine they'd trade away Afflalo. It's not like they're married to him. Magic fans would probably forget he was ever on the roster in 3 years time (eg. Walter Herrrmann).
I don't suppose Orlando has finished tanking just yet. They'd rather one more year of suckiness in order to secure a nice pick for 2014. Just saying, give them a call.

Fresh #7 pick for AA? I don't think AA's value is that high.. even in this draft.. esp. not for Burke if he slips.

If the Magic do take McLemore and are looking to move Afflalo, that'd be great though. Anything not involving Drummond, Monroe or whoever our #7 pick is I'd be down with.

    Afflalo definitel
y fits what I'd like to see on the wing. A good three-point shooter who can defend his position well enough.

Actually, almost the entire Pistons roster shot better from the 3-point line than Afflalo (30.0%) last year.

That's not representative though. He's been at or above 40% most of his career. I put that down to the new situation/bad team.

I think that Zach Lowe guy used Afflalo as an example of taking someone out of the defense, three, athlete role and asking them to do more. Doing so hit his stat hard.

He thinks now is a good time to get him because he'll fully embrace his role now that he's seen how the other half lives.

I think Alf is a good player, but he's not a Superstar waiting to happen.

I like Spellcheck and used to get killed by dudes when I put forth the idea that he was a better guy to have on your team than Stuckey.
That being said, I don't think that he's worth a lottery pick to a team in the midst of a rebuild.
I was kinda bummed watching that Piston game against Orlando last season where Afflalo refused to shoot for pretty much the entire game. That was very 'stuckey' of him and it was a side that I've never seen out of him.

On the flip side, if the best player available were Oladipo, would you rather trade the pick for Afflalo?

You know what you have with Alf.
'Dipo could make us all forget that Michael Jordan ever existed.

As long as this team continues to lack any sort of identity, I'm all for stocking it with dudes that have "potential for greatness" instead of guys that are "known to be decent".
