Will Ledezma was traded for some guy named McBride. Hopefully someone can update with a link. This is fresh off the radio.
Ledezma dealt to Atlanta for McBride - MLB - Yahoo! Sports I don't know if I like this trade. It looks like Ledezma gets more strike outs and has pitched more innings. This McBride character seems to only pitch one inning per outing. I hope he has an electric fastball or something. I would rather have seen Ledezma pakaged with someone else to get us a legit closer/set up man.
Ledezma was always too inconsistent. He's more of a middle-relief/occasional starter pitcher. We need someone to come in for an inning and shut things down. This new guy is going to be put into that position.
I've never heard of McBride, but I like his ERA. By the numbers, this trade looks pretty good for the Tigers...leaving me wondering why the Braves did it. Conflict with the coaches or teammates?
I just heard the only reason this deal was made was because Ledezma was out of options and could not be sent back down to the minors. The team needed to make room for Kenny Rogers and Nate when they come off the DL. This McBride guy is most likely going to go down to the minors.
I still don't know why they are so high on Grilli. The guy has been an enigma. He had a solid year last season, but other then that one year he's been shaky and inconsistent. He could've been just released as far as I am concerned. They chose him over Spurling a while ago and I still don't know why. We need bullpen help. The talk is that Maroth may be dealt in the very near future, although they have to make sure that Robertson can come back first.
I think the whole dropping of the baseball resulting in the balk did Ledezma in. I still rather have Ledezma than Grilli.
This trade seems strange...lefty for lefty. Okay...we know why the Tigers did it. Why did the Braves do it?
So far they haven't said. I think Braves may be looking at starting him at some point. Ledezma's fastball is quite above average. He needs to get his breaking ball working and he'll be a solid #3 or 4 starter. He's still only 26 and already has 3 years of MLB experience.
