Here's what I'd like to see.. #1) I'd like to see Knight develop his pick & roll game. That's essentially what the half-court offense in today's NBA is. He's got two great partners in Drummond and Monroe to work on this with. He needs to improve as a passer in these situations. And more importantly, he needs to be a threat by being able to hit pull up J's off the dribble - something he hasn't shown much ability to do yet. And, also in this sense, I just want to see him handling the ball more in the half-court offense. Being a floor general. Running the offense. Exploring options. Running the show. He needs to be a little more comfortable with the ball to do that at this level I think. #2) He's an incredible athlete. I want to see him leading us in transition far more often. Attacking the basket and getting to the line in transition. He's got the athleticism of a D-Rose to do that. He needs to adopt the attitude. Passing on the break near the basket is big for him too. #3) He's absolutely awful defensively - no one else has mentioned this. Everyone blows by him. It's a matter of fundamentals and hard work to a large extent. He needs to play lower. He needs to be more focused/serious on the defensive end. #4) He needs to put on a ton of muscle. He's just as tall as Chauncey, but he lacks all of his interior game. This, to a large extent, also includes his ability to just be able to drive by people and get closer looks at the basket...not just talking about backing people down. #5) He needs his outside shot to be more consistent. ...That's an awful lot for a point guard to need to work on, isn't it? It sounds almost like taking an NFL WR and saying he has potential to be a great NBA PG, but he needs to develop ALL of the point guard skills. Can he do it? Sure. But..I'm not quite as optimistic as many of you seem to be.
