Pope as a shooter needs to shoot free throws over 85%! 69% is not a shooter in any sense.

I agree, that is pretty low for a guard.

He only attempts 1.8 free throws per game. So, if he increased his FT% from 69% to 80%, that would only result in 0.2 more points per game.

If someone like Andre Drummond increased his FT% from 38% to 80% while shooting 4.1 FT per game, that would result in 1.7 more points per game.

KCP should look to attack and get to the line more than he does.

I have been wanting KCP to attack more too with drives to the hoop....this is second year and the change needs to start this summer.

Our last great 2 guard R.I.P shot an average of 89% from the FT line on 4.6 attempts a game...in contrast he only averaged 1.8 3ball attempts a game during his 9 years with the Pistons. He didn't start shooting close to 3 attempts until his last three years with us. Maybe KCP should have used this method...shoot high percentage shots first and then start the long range???

What are their TS%'s at the same point? .498 (KCP) to.508 (Rip). Pretty close. Rip's career was .511 and he was one of the best modern midrange specialists in the league.

KCP should be able to match that percentage in the long run due to his three point range being better.

Rip did pay during a period with better defenses due to the rules though.

Didn't realize RJ was 1 reb away from another triple double.

Andre was good last night but I think the only free throws he made were when they tried the Hack-a-Dre. Somehow that got him focused and he made both shots. He also threw up a bunch of BenWallace-like shots from the post that had no chance of going in.
KCP is really looking good. He looks like he will be a team leader and a solid 2 guard for years to come.
JJ looked good for the Celtics but Datome looked like he didn't belong out there. The Celts best player was Evan Turner. He looked like the most talented guy on the court at times.
Dinwiddie really used his size when Pressey was guarding him.

Tayshaun was constantly talking to the other players. I think he has really helped the team with his professionalism.

2 months ago, who would have argued we could make good use of Tayshaun Prince?

This is another sign to me that Stan is really an elite coach. He's also getting a lot out of Caron Butler right now. I love that we're in that phase where veteran leadership is making an observable difference. Shades of Uncle Cliffy.

I'm really starting to like KCP. He is the bizarro-Stuckey.

Stuckey: Atrocious 3pt shooter, good at driving to the basket, great FT shooter, can't defend
KCP: Decent 3pt shooter, doesn't drive to the basket, mediocre FT shooter, good defender

I'd add that Stuckey doesn't like to rub anyone the wrong way. He's all about maintaining a good relationship with his opponent. The ultimate manifestation of this happens during the post-game hug sessions that occur.
Caldwell seems to pride himself on being as big of a pain in the ass as possible. He's not out there to make friends. I have to assume that cats are all like "Damn, ...I gotta run against KCP tonight".

Agreed. And the difference between us tanking and trying to end on a positive note is dropping down one place from the #7 pick to the #8 pick.

Ill take #8 and everyone feeling like we are headed in the right direction all day long.

Spent most of yesterday in LA ...first at Staples Center watching the Clippers and Pelicans battle and then people watching while having dinner with the Mrs Dre and #1 son at the Grove over in the Hollywood-Beverly Hills neighborhood. Didn't recognize any celebrities this time... as many hide behind their sunglasses..but this is the spot that I did see Brandon Jennings walk by with his lady friend 3 years ago....before I knew he would eventually become a Piston................

Just got through watching yesterday's 4th quarter and OT.....the team is playing like they should 10-12 games ago. Had we split those 10 losses, we'd be sitting at 31-39 ...and fighting to maintain the 8th spot instead of 5 back. I am not ready to tank yet......give me five more chances to go that route..

I posted our PF Facebook commentary...feel free to comment.... PistonsForum | Facebook

There were times when Stuckey was in the locker room hurt or getting dental work done...and he still hobbled out post game to hug the opposing players. He was unstoppable.

Seems like KCP has been taking mid-rangers and driving to the hoop quite a bit lately.

Players missing games because of breaking their legs while sleeping, slamming car doors on their own hands and failed front teeth dental work. And the in-game fainting. Good times.

It's hard to quantify the value of Collider's post-game hugging. He is in a league of his own.

I never liked Rodney Stuckey. I think mainly it was because Joe anointed him and there were no sacred cows 'except for Stuck'. That made me afraid for the rest of the team. I'm glad he's gone. Now KCP I have liked from the very beginning. I am thrilled he is a Piston. And looking forward to watching how much better he's going to get with us.

I think we had 2 or 3 Stuckey lovers.

2Tough4You. I think we had established that it was Stuckey himself posting under that alias.

He used to get mad when we made jokes about Stuckey hugging everyone. He claimed Stuckey did not hug at a higher rate than the other players.
