    Return of JJ and Gigi Datome.

    Marcus Smart is suspended in this game for a low blow on a Spur the other night.

    Must win game :burp:

    I was thinking earlier what good has come from the last three games without Monroe.

    We have strengthened our position as the 7th draft pick, looking to make a run for the 8th pick. Which is great.

    More optimistically, based on a definitely too small of sample size, I have begun to warm up to the idea of Reggie.

    Here are some numbers that I thought were interesting:

    Reggie's shooting statistics--
    ReggieJacksonShooting.PNG

    Reggie's last three games (without the presence of Monroe)--
    ReggieJacksonGameLog.PNG

    Something I thought was intriguing is that if we look at the breakdown of Reggie's FG% by Distance, we see he is actually shooting an improved 64.7% from 59.6% under 3 feet since coming to Detroit. Additionally, his 3 point numbers look better than I expected, as he is shooting less percent of his shots from 3 (27.4% to 21.7%), and he is shooting slightly better (29.2% from 27.8%). It is his mid-range numbers that are killing his FG%. Taking 55.2% of his shots from 3 feet to less than 3 pointers, he is shooting 25.9% from 3-10, 40.5% from 10-16, and 30.4% from 16 < 3.

    Conjecture: Without the presence of Greg Monroe, Reggie Jackson is able to minimize his inefficient mid-range game and get high percentage shots for himself (easy close to the rim baskets) and his teammates (more open 3 pointers --> more assists for himself).

    Potential reasoning could be more room to drive in the lane and thus improved shooting from the outside by at least one of KCP, Meeks, Butler, or Tolliver (in the past three games).

    KCP -->
    2/7 + 1/4 + 3/6 = 6 / 17 = 35.3% (34.1% season avg.) --> KCP is improved from field, as well (10/16 + 7/16 + 6/11 = 23 / 43 = 53.3% [39.9% season avg.] )
    Meeks -->
    1/3 + 2/5 + 2/2 = 5 /10 = 50.0% (34.1% season avg.)
    Butler -->
    1/2 + 1/6 + 4/6 = 6 / 14 = 42.9% (33.3% season avg.)
    Tolliver -->
    4/9 + 2/4 + 0/4 = 6 / 17 = 35.3% (33.5% season avg.)

    Reggie is shooting an improved 45.1% from the field and 36.4% from 3, dishing out 13.7 assists with an incredible 5.1 AST to TO ratio, scoring 18.7 points a game.

    Again, I understand it's a small sample size, but I hope to see a similar trend tonight against the Celtics with Moose ruled out.

    Based on these numbers, I am more comfortable investing in Reggie long-term, letting Moose walk, and picking up more shooters to surround Reggie and Drummond in FA and the draft.

    What does anyone else think?

    I so want to win this game.

    I need good stats from Brandon Bass though. I am in a dogfight in a Keeper League playoff matchup with @coynejeremy@coynejeremy right now.

    Dude... how deep is your keeper league that you're running Bass out there?

    Bass puts up respectable numbers a few games a season. I won a title starting Bass once.

    Our clock management is atrocious. That is one area we could make enormous gains in this offseason.

    Hard to believe we're still in this. Like my fantasy team, I have given up on watching this game as dozen times this afternoon.

    So sweet to see Tay dribbling out the clock forcing a foul from JJ.

    Amazing victory.

    I think I have always underestimated spacing. I think the Pistons as an organization are figuring that out. Thanks to Stan.

    This team has a pretty weak bench, but I'm starting to like the core of Reggie/KCP/Drummond. It would be great if Drum could ever consistently make free throws, but I doubt that will ever be part of his game. KCP has really grown on me over the past year - he's a solid defender and his shot is really coming around. 27 points and 8 boards is REALLY good for a shooting guard. Drum with 18 points and 22 rebounds (how many 20-board games has he had this year?) and Reggie a rebound away from a triple double.

    I didn't realize Reggie was as good a FT shooter as he was. I do like seeing that, because it means that the player actually has a consistent shot. He hasn't performed well offensively since the trade, efficiency-wise, but that's another reason to be optimistic.

    If this team can find a rangy PF and a wing with range, it's going to be really good. Lacking both, though, it's pretty inconsistent.
