Panda, the best players then were every bit as good, if not better than the current players.

The scrubs back then, well, they compared favorably to Stuckey, CV, Max, and the scrubs now.

I was afraid to pull players from before the time when they kept certain stats due to the way that the sim might not give them credit.

For instance, Pistol Pete and Bob Cousy probably won't hit many 3's in the sim since they didn't even have a 3-point line. On the other hand, they didn't track turnovers, so you might get a boost there with 0 as their average.

We're not as dumb as you think we is... :6shoot:

Trade-wise, I love Hakeem, Russell, West. Wouldn't mind upgrading at the 2 or 3. So, I'm shopping Gervin, Pippen and Iverson.

Laimbrane. I'm guessing MJ's off-limits. See anything happening with Durant?

BillLaimbeer. I'm guessing Big O's off-limits. See anything happening with Bird or Elgin?

Walter. See anything happening with Dr. J?

Tas. I'm guessing LeBron's off-limits. See anything happening with Dr. J?

CJ. I'm interested in R. Barry still, of course.

SJ. Kobe, of course, I'm quite interested in. Nique too, to a lesser extent.

Woody. I'm somewhat interested in Havlicek.

    George Mikan couldn't guard Hakeem.

Come on, man... if we're talking real-world, most of the players of yesteryear couldn't compete on the same level with players now. You really Wilt would stand a chance against Dwight or Shaq or that Walton could body up against PFs of today?

    I'm going with Mark Eaton.

My only worry is one of my bigs fouling out on the sim. No point in backing up a 1-3.

Wilt certainly could. Russell as well, with his insane athleticism and instincts.

Hadn't thought about foul-outs. Perhaps we should expand the draft to 8 rounds (to get a backup point, wing and big?)

Woody, you're on the clock. Time for this pick that's supposed to expose us all as "idiots"

I was leery of ABA players, especially a guy who had his top PER years outside of the NBA. Notice how his PER dropped from 28.7 to 20.9 the year that he went to the big leagues? Offensive WS went from 11.7 to 6.8.

I'm leery about this dumb simulator anyways. I'm going to enjoy just looking at the teams and predicting who would win the series, the ensuing series, etc.

I'm highly confident that the simulator will take into account all variables and provide us all with realistic outcomes and perfect closure.

In reality, with superstars like we have, these series would go different ways each time they would be played. Look at the small moments that tipped the balance in Lakers/ Celtics/ Pistons series in the past. Even the experts in Vegas can't predict close matchups more than a fraction of the time over 50%.

As long as the sim doesn't give Eaton under 10 blocks per game, I'll have it's back.

It's the old school players with less statistical data available that bugs me. Bill Russell averages 0 blocks/game according to that thing!

I just started screwing around with this simulator..

    I put together an all-time best team, according to SLAM magazine's ranking: C-Wilt, PF-Russell, SF-James, SG-Jordan, PG-Oscar, C-Shaq, PF-Kareem, SF-Bird, SG-Kobe, PG-Magic, C-Duncan, PG-West

    I put together an all-time best team, according to PER: C-Wilt, PF-Robinson, SF-James, SG-Jordan, PG-Paul, C-Shaq, PF-Kareem, SF-TMac, SG-Wade, PG-Oscar, C-Hawkins, PG-Magic

The PER team lost the series in 5 when on the road.

The PER team won the series in 5 when at home.

home/away seems to make an ENORMOUS difference. We'll have to make sure that's even.
