I would say he is doing better this year than last. But all those lineup changes were either injury or auditions.
    He had no choice.
It's like he's coaching on fumes, no fire.

Great analysis TaS, which probably means we are indeed somewhere between the best and 4th best team in the league, who have been a month long hitting slump. The starting pitching has been as good as advertised, but the team with second best batting has been a bust with Jackson, setting strikeout records and Fielder getting meaningless hits with no one on base, so he remains RBI-less post season play.

Our two best pitchers, Scherzer and Verlander struckout a combined 23 batters and the Tigers still lost both of those games.

As far as the speed issue.....I don't recall what the count was when Hunter smacked his single down the right field line in the bottom of the 8th inning, but if the so called fastest man on your team was not being told to think about stealing second to get in scoring position, then they were to scared to risk being thrown out. Have the Tigers even tested the catcher yet? A successful steal by Jackson meant he was crossing the plate on the Hunter hit.....

I was actually wondering if we were going to send Perez, but if he gets caught, it really sucks. If our runner gets caught in the 8th, it means we probably leave Cabrera stranded on deck to end the inning.

It's one of our Achilles heels for sure, and it's magnified in playoff games. But it's more on dombrowski than Leyland.

The stats for our starting pitchers are just crazy. Add to it that these are the most important games of the year. Add to that the fact that Boston has the best offense by far of any team in MLB. The Red Sox scored 853 runs this year. Second to that, which is the Tigers, is 796 runs.

those shakeups were due to INJURY or so he could "REST" his players...but his 1-9 is as set in stone as my good looks!!!!!!! Watch the GAME not the box score, my friend. A SHAKE UP is moving Martinez up to 3, and dropping Cabrera and Fielder to 4 and 5!! A SHAKEUP is batting Hunter SIXTH to move up Infante or Iglesias.....THIS is a SHAKE UP..starting Game 4 with THIS lineup:

    1. INFANTE 2B
    2. HUNTER RF
    3. MARTINEZ C
    4. CABRERA DH
    5. FIELDER 1B
    6. PERALTA SS
    7. DIRKS LF
    8. JACKSON CF
    9. SANTIAGO/ KELLY 3B

    This way from 2 to 9 gives u a r/l/r/l/r/l/r/l ORDER....whacha think?

Yea, that is the way we were built....lots of big boppers...no contact hitters....lots of strikeouts....no speed whatsoever.

For better or worse, that is who we are right now.

To Dombrowski's credit, this is why Hunter was brought in and he did well during the season.

I like it. Basically getting Jackson out off the lead off spot is the change. You could lead off with Hunter too and it would be fine.

Juggling Cabrera, vmart, fielder, and penalty doesn't make much difference imo. They've been out producing as a group so far in the post season. Cabrera has hit more hrs than any other tiger this post season, so potentially getting him one extra at bat at the 3 spot makes sense to me. The end of the lineup is a wasteland like most teams.

Going light on defense in favor of hitters also makes sense with all starting pitchers except fister, since they fan half the batters. With fister tonight, being a ground ball pitcher, you have to put Iglesias in. I'd consider vmart at catcher this game with peralta at 3rd and Cabrera at dh to shore up the hot corner. Cabrera at bunt depth scares me for this one.

A friend of mine was texting with a fella that she was VERY newly dating.

They were texting back an forth and he was telling her some details about this amazing meal that he was going to cook her that evening. After sending her a text about all of this awesome food that he was preparing for their dinner, she meant to send him a reply that said: "Oooooooooo!"
Instead, the autoreply on her iPhone sent the guy a text that said: "Pooping!"
