It's not possible for me to be any less excited for this game. What's the point?

Check that. I might be down in the dumps, my faith and belief shaken, but somewhere out there is a soldier who lacks the cable and broadband access that I so callously take for granted. Without me this soldier won't know what's happening tonight.

How are you supposed to fight our enemies when you don't know if Coach Loyer's only plan is to play Kyle Singler as much as possible?

I am getting up, not for me but for them!

I suggest we all do the same.

Well...let's see. The Hawks are in the middle of a 7 game losing streak. They have injury issues.
One more loss would be historic for their franchise. Been a long time since they've lost 8 straight.

Pistons must choose...fight or flight. That's kinda what this season has become for the Detroit faithful.
After losing 2 straight to the Bobcats, I'm not sure what's left in the tank. Time for the troops to rally.

    Let's see which team makes their will known....Pistons 92 - Hawks 98

its a Jekyl and Hyde team - never know which one will show up. May win the next 3 and then lost the next 3 - who knows. Only the shadow knows.

Trying to decide if I want to sit through a probable, possible loss live and living color to the Hawks or take the wife to see Pompei and 3 Days to Kill? I mean if I stay home and we go down by 20 in the first half, the Clippers at Memphis comes on a half hour later and I can watch that game simultaneously. Or will the movies be more entertaining???

Early impressions of game. Atlanta, although facing injury problems, does not have anyone as bad as Singler on their team, and they do not bring someone like Bynum off their bench. And, the Pistons have changed nothing at all. Still going small ball with Pope at small forward, JJ at power forward. All wrong. We should be able to win this game, but not with the coaches we have.

Something different now. Starting unit is in, but Bynum instead of Singler. This is an improvement.

Let's give Singler his due--he hit his spot up looks--as NBA players are suppose to do most nights and it helped put the Pistons over the top against a falling Atlanta team. Singler is starting to at least hit those open looks as he stands at the perimeter. It seemed so striking because no one else on the Pistons this year has been able to do so. Yes, shooting matters.

Back to shooting: Jennings was 3 for 12 (one break away off a turnover layup) and he was 2 for 9 from the three and 2 for 11 on jumpers. Jennings did not score in the first half I believe and he took at least 6 shots. The coach sat Jennings the entire 4th quarter, I believe. Bynum ran the show. On many nights, Jennings should have been benched but was not by Cheeks. Yes, Jennings had a lot of assists. But I will say it again: this team needs more than a point guard who is a simple distributor of the ball on the outside. The Pistons dominated inside but struggled to put this team away. This team needs a point guard who can shoot consistently, shoot in the clutch and get into the lane to make shots and pass or get fouled. Jennings did get fouled--shooting threes. 3 for 12 with no inside shots and not getting fouled in the lane has little or no impact on the game.

If the point guard play does not improve, the Pistons cannot afford to go into next season without getting another guard. The Pistons won with a third tier point guard running the 4th quarter.

At least the coach sat Jennings to take some of the pressure off of him. I don't get it. Jennings sometimes makes 35 footers at the buzzer but then misses routine looks. The organization needs to figure him out. Right now, he seems to be a second tier guard coming off the bench for most teams.

Maybe Jennings just needs to do what Mike Bibby used to do. Shoot a couple thousands jumpers every day during the offseason.
