From Langlois mailbag; Chris (Hoover, Ala.): I’m a big fan of Amir and his upside. No one fills up a stat line in such a short period of time like him. But he also fills up the foul stat just as fast. What actions are coach Curry and his assistants taking to help him correct this? Langlois: Making it a daily teaching point without overwhelming him to the point that he becomes a passive player. Watching tape to see the situations he puts himself in to commit silly fouls that he could eliminate. Some are easy. He picked up his second foul three minutes into the Portland game last week when he grabbed at Greg Oden as he was already going up for an easy dunk. The Pistons want Amir in the starting lineup because of how active he is defensively, so they want to be careful not to have him ratchet his activity down to the point where he doesn’t give them what makes him a unique player, but he has to be better at limiting the quick fouls that hamstring Curry’s ability to manage the rotation
Still no one answered my question...what value is HOF'er Dave Cowens providing to Amir or Max when neither have progresed IMO since their second years? I don't know who his available, but I am almost certain there is someone out there who could probably not only jump, but can play defense, stay out of foul trouble and take the place of both Max and Amir..... langering on a team going no where this season.
Here's another one from the mailbag that I came across: From Langlois mailbag; Jill (Atlanta, Ga.): I’m a big fan of Pistonsforum.com and I heard you read it all of the time. Which poster do you get the most insight from? Langlois: A guy named BillLaimbeer is clearly the most intelligent of the posters over there. Several others are pretty savvy. Irregardless, it's BillLaimbeer that I get most of my story ideas and interview questions from. It's great getting a question from a female Pistons fan, Jill. The Pistonsforum community has several women (Armygirl, DarthTater, Jammertime, etc.) that are very knowledgeable and devoted Detroit fans.
He brings the Krispy Kremes first thing in the morning? Seriously, who knows? Our most sound bigs are the ones who peaked before becoming Pistons. I'm guess every coaching staff has their "company guys" that sound good in interviews, regardless of whether they have much substance.
Hondo was my dad, Cowens was the one doubled over laughing. I think of that every time they show him on the bench.
