At Portland T 'Blazers Jan. 7th, 10:00 PM TV - FS Detroit, NBALP Radio - WDFN 1130 The Blazers are one of the leagues best teams, at home. Their 12-4 record is very impressive. The Pistons will attempt to avenge an earlier loss at the Palace.
Re: At Portland T 'Blazers Jan. 7th, 10:00 PM This aint no throw away game. Curry better jump strong on these cats before Port thinks they are our Daddy. A steady diet of Amir fouls should control things.

OK, can we define must win games? not one team has won 82 games in a regular season. So obviously there are some games that would be lost. let us start a thread of a definition of must win games. I really enjoy wins but we have to admit that loses will be there.
in other words no game is a must win save the last game of the season no matter how much we the fans put into any particular game. The players and coaches may get up for some games more then others, but every game has a chance to be lost. Otherwise they wouldn't make you play them. Look at the teams that lost yesterday..... did boston and clevelands season end because they lost to terrible teams? no more then ours ended when we got beat by bad teams earlier this season.
No, because those losses didn't destroy the liklihood of them ending the season with a championship. That is why no game is a must-win until very late in the season. If you are tied with another team for the 8th playoff spot and there are 2 games to go in the season, and your rival wins their game, then I'd say you are facing a must win game. Even though it isn't an elimination game, your odds are drastically reduced if you don't win. "must win game" is just an opinion by the person who states it. In their opinion, the team is screwed if they don't win it. Doesn't mean that has to be mathematically true. If you state that your team has a must-win game, and then your team loses, but goes on to win the Championship, you lose your "must-win" liscence and you are never allowed to utter that cliche again. That rule is what keeps the whole system functioning properly.
Oh geez, what's next? Are we all going to turn into grammar nazis as well now that we've felt the need to get into theoretical discussions of whether the term "must win game" should or should not be used on the forum? If a game can be construed as something that can change momentum or be a contributing factor to put the team in a bad playoff position then it can be loosely defined as a must win game. Technically speaking, if you want to make the playoffs, then at least 40 or so games are must win games, and they aren't all at the end of the season. If you want another case in point go back 8 games or so when Piston fans all over the place were throwing rope over the rafters in preparation for the worst season in quite a while. How many losses to perceived "bad teams" will it take to put folks back into that mindset? One? Two? Now we're sitting around in a game thread debating how much this game matters, like the bomb won't drop in here if they drop the next 3 in a row. It's the theoretical difference between a worst case scenario of 1-3 or 2-2. Heck yes it's a must win.
Thanks. Ros hooked me up. It's a better reflection of the mood I'm in today. I'm coming out swinging with my fluffy jabs.
I think next we should get on Allen Iverson for these "I play like every game is my last" comments. What kind of a crock is that? Obviously if he wants to win and he's playing every game like it's his last then hes treating every game like a "must win" as well. He's just asking for it. :suspiciou
Most pros suck in their last professional game, don't they? Maybe he should play every game like he's it's his first (30 points and 6 assists).
It's "must-win" so I don't get "pissed-off". And have to come in here and pick over Chaunc's shot selection. Err, Amir's fouls.
