DD, the problem isn't the coach. This roster does not have enough talent to become winners. Q didn't break the team down. The team is 26-51. Q certainly has some work to do on his communication skills. Perhaps his rotations need some work. But, you will get your wish. Q will undoubtedly be gone in a couple of weeks. Do you then think this same roster will be on its way to the promised land with some special coach?
I dont think the roster as it is will compete for the title, hell no. But the roster of talent under a decent to solid coach would get 10+ more wins and have a chemistry in the locker room. Or maybe you think the coaches role on a team is overrated?
Coaches certainly play an important role, but I do think many people over-estimate the impact a coach has on a team's win-loss record.
The talent and chemistry on this team sucks. I will never understand blaming the coach. Hamilton and Prince can't play for Flip, Curry or Q. Who the hell can they play for? The coach is just an escapegoat. These guys are the ones who makes shots and plays, and anyone watching this team can tell that the guys we have dont make enough of either, and no magical lineup is going to compensate for bad players playing badly. Q is a coach, not a miracle worker.
Who would end up with a better record... Phil Jackson coaching the current Cavs lineup or Kuester coaching the current Lakers lineup? (by the way, you have to be realistic and assume that Kobe comes off the bench or gets dnp-cd's for about 50% of the season).
Can anyone explain why Bill Laimbeer wasn't there at halftime? Whatever "happened", this is getting ridiculous.
...I saw one of these cheesy stickers on a jacked-up pickup truck this morning and thought of your post.
I think there is talent on this team. Not enough to contend for a title but enough to have a record better then what we have. Q is like a mechanic coming to work with only half his tools. He has the sockets in his tool box but leaves the ratchet at home, outside in the rain. Goes to work and can't understand why the sockets won't loosen the nut. He comes home a few days later and puts the rusty ratchet in his tool box and leaves the sockets out in the rain. Goes to work and still can't figure out why he can't loosen the nut when he has the ratchet; even though it is rusted. Comes home a few days later and puts the rusty sockets in his bag with the rusty ratchet and goes back to work. Now using the rusty ratchet and rusty sockets to loosen the bolt still doesn't work. Come to find out he has the socket on the ratchet backwards. He has tools to use but you have to take care of them for them to work and know how to use them. I am not saying he should bow to the players every demand but there has to be a medium ground. Part of the reason they are playing poorly is because they are not being put in the proper situations to win. This is on the coach. Should they be playing better? I don't know. They are not robots so if you are not in an environment that is conducive to being the best you can be...
Can you imagine what it would have been like if this paragraph had been given to one of those French New Wave directors in the early 60s? There would be guys in jackets with patches on the elbows using lines from the movie to pick up women all over the world. We might never even have gotten involved in Viet Nam.
Our metric socket set has several sizes missing and last time I checked, we had like three or four of the same 12mm socket. The ratchet fits a few of the sockets just fine but there are a bunch of 'em that have one of those different sized square holes in the back and are completely useless. Go Pistons!
How does that happen? I bet you could buy a new set and bury it in the ground for five years. Then when you dug it up, half the sizes you need would be gone and most of the remaining sockets would be the same size. It's a mystery. Much like the rotations.
