This whole BS from last year hinged on Mo Cheeks teaching Jennings how to play point guard. Jennings is an awesome passer. His ability to understand angles, velocity, etc is uncanny. But his play doesn't indicate that he understands how to get other people involved. We can harp on Josh Smith but his numbers we magnified because he got the ball late in the clock. With the talent and offensive schemes that we had, he was in a bad position most times. It did look like he was actively trying to mold his game and that Mo was also actively trying to teach the PG position. Too bad it came at the expense of every thing else.

Anyway, I'm excited to see Dinwiddie get some playing time. My vision of pistons basketball is to feature Monroe at the high post with threats all around.

I don't think this is SVG's vision. I think he would prefer a high pick-and-roll with Drummond in which 2-3 other guys are spotting up for threes if team's sag to help.

Perhaps. This whole Monroe thing is slowing down the process of figuring out what the 2014-15 Pistons will look like.

I'm guessing your vision also imagines a Greg Monroe who wants to be on the team as he inhabits the high post.

It's just part of his grand obsession to get Kyle Singler more shots.

Looks like Ron World Peace would like to win a championship for Detroit (second choice after Indy).

Metta World Peace says he wants to win a championship for Indiana

This team has been a mess these last few years. Starting with a inept administration.
Every one of the Piston's opponents and at the very least, objective commentators, have remarked on the obvious talent level of this team.
You are spot-on with the comments on Cheeks, Jennings and Smith. Stuckey's influence is gone and Monroe has given up on becoming a force on this team.
We have a great coach and enforcer (having a combined President's position can do that), with a sharp eye administration to back SVG.
It will take time and some selective adjustments, but we will be moving forward.

MWP is not winning any championships anywhere. He's done as a player.

Detroit Pistons: 5 Bold Predictions For 2014-15

I thought this was an interesting article. It's quite optimistic.

    Here's a quick summary:

    1) Andre Drummond will be an all-star center.
    2) Additions of D.J. Augustin, Caron Butler, and Jodie Meeks Will Power the Bench
    3) Brandon Jennings Will Thrive Under Van Gundy
    4) Josh Smith Will Take His Game to Another Level
    5) Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Will Show His Full Potential

It's worth a read. Very hopeful!

    Bill, is right.
One would assume on turning your question on it's head: SVG has a agenda against losing; which means that his motion offense is not predicated on a lone post that all must accommodate because of his cement feet.

I watched it live yesterday on the the PT Clipper channel...Almost wished I had been down there.....but then I tried to remember if the Pistons did something similar when Gores showed up but couldn't remember..............well if they did, he didn't exude this type of excitement...at one point I thought it was Dick Vitale out there or his brother..

During one of the interviews Ballmer said he grew up cheering for the Pistons as a Detroit resident and didn't see them start to put a decent team on the floor until a couple of years after Zeke got there.

Nice to see Datome is committed to the Pistons even though Barcelona wants him.

I truly see Datome getting more burn, at least time to see if he can hit shots. Van Gundy appreciates the corner three where Cheeks thought it was useless.

I remember Teletovic's first year. It was horrendous. I think he airballed all 4 of his 3-pt attempts in his first game or something. Now he's a threat from range. If given a chance, Datome might be able to succeed. I mean, he's no Singler, but I still would like to see what he can do.

How many wins do we gain by getting rid of Singler and Bynum?
