Two things stand out...San Antonio got an "A"...and we used to be like them.
Also...we just lost to the only "F" team....

Funny, how they said that Stuckey "was auditioning for a better team".
Never thought I'd read those words...Maybe JD offers him a....oh, never mind.

I'd dump Jennings. He's fantastic on the break but otherwise sucks. I like Bynum as a player but with Billups not working out, he is just more of the same hero-ball when he checks in for BJ.

Saw this interesting article the other day I've since lost. The point was that if you look at Smith's shots beyond 16' what he has done since coming to Detroit is to increase the share of those long shots that come from beyond the arc. So he isn't taking more shots from beyond 16' than he did with the Hawks, but a larger share of those shots are from farther out. And, if you sum the points scored for the 16'+ shots with Atlanta and with Detroit, he is actually scoring more per shot now than before. I guess the logic is that if you're shooting from within a big step of the three point line, may as well back up and take the three. Even if you don't make quite as many, you still end up scoring more per shot.

Once JD offers Stuckey 13 million per season, they'll then know that he's a rising star...

Yep. Could be that Gores lets JD make a trade and this will be his last life-raft. It may seem that if this happens, JD will select a player to help get him into the playoffs. Obviously, this also means getting rid of one of two (with marginals included) of either Monroe or Smith. JD knows his best option is Monroe.

It may also seem to JD that the Monroe move would be he prudent course and getting rid of Smith will not help the best value for the team at this time. Will JD balk at this latter move? He would, after all, have to admit that he made a mistake and he needs to act quickly to recover for better options this summer.

Then again, Gores could tell JD to get what ever value he can get for Smith before the trade deadline. For Gores, this would open up a clean slate for a new GM, and coach this summer. He still would have a decent core to build around and let us not forget: the East will not be that much better next year. So there is hope.

Interesting...I figured Gores would hang on to all players, dump JD, and allow the new GM to manage the roster.

I'm kinda hoping that the east rises from the ashes this season while the Pistons stay irrelevant...keeping us out of the playoffs.
This may give us a better draft choice and help JD to pack his bags...

I wouldn't read too much into these interviews. They are mostly edited to fit a narrative, and in the spirit of confirmation bias, can be read multiple ways.

What's obvious is that Gores knows the team isn't playing well and has poor results. What he thinks will change that, and when, remains a point of contention.

If you pay him like a star, he may start playing like one.

Gores can be many things, but a stupid man he ain't. If his plan is to dump the JoeMo this summer, he won't let Joe make any trades. Reading that article, I get the following:

    - No trades by the deadline
    - Keep the roster as is
    - Fire Cheeks/Dumars after the season
    - Let the new GM/Coach decide what they want to do with Moose's RFA and the FA market
