It's rough. ...not right.
I had a dream a few nights ago that the Pistons signed Rip. Sent from the new and improved Tapatalk 2.
A sure way to not make the playoffs is to try to relive 9 years ago.
He did start in 90% of his games played last year for a playoff team despite battling injury. Only 4 players on our roster last year made more FGs per game than him (and 3 of them left- Calderon, Prince, and Knight... Monroe is still here). I don't think it is a good idea from a chemistry standpoint either, but from a performance standpoint, he'd probably slightly improve our play if he's healthy. I still find it disorienting that 9 players from last year are gone. Makes last year seem really long ago when you think about Corey Maggette playing.
Rip was expired long ago, Rip and Tay had suffocated the team by their "been there done that" attitude which had also killed Stuckey.
So he would have been the 5th scoring option on last years team, where three of the four in front of him were shipped off. No thanks.
The fact that Rip is not on a roster this late in the season says a lot. Also, the Pistons have 15 on their roster. We aren't giving up on Jorts quite this fast.
If we sign Rip, the we gotta call Vinny...
I totally agree with what you said about Rip & Tay being the leaders of the "Been There Done That Crew". However, anything that led to the "demise" of Super Collider was totally self-inflicted. In all of my years of fandom, I've never seen the Piston franchise bend so far over backwards to create situations for a player to experience individual success.
Yea...good post. I woulda just hammered on how Stuckey has been ungrateful jerky ect., but you did it better.
You forgot to include Big Ben, Sheed and Billups in this. These guys were all the worst until we got rid of them and were left with 20 something win teams year after year. I don't know what would have had to happen for people to stop thinking these guys were the problem. I guess Rip and Tay were just the last 2 standing.
Tay was part of those teams friend. And you know that's not what he was saying.
So was Rip. Do you think it all would have worked out if they weren't there? I know I mocked all the ECF appearances, but lord knows when the team can get back there. The fandom has created and assigned the behavior of these guys to make sense of its disappointment. They are champions. Sent from the new and improved Tapatalk 2.
FTFY No one is debating that they were once good. We're debating that they are still good.
CV has more value with an expiring contract, as long as he NEVER plays in meaningful minutes for the Pistons this year. Rip would have absolutely no value with the current Pistons roster. He would end up taking minutes away from KCP.
I thought we were debating that they were the cause of everything bad that happened here? Sent from the new and improved Tapatalk 2.
brofmfa's post where he dubbed Rip and Tay as the "leaders of the been there done that crew" is what I responded to. I understand folks not wanting people back, I just don't think they're going to start conspiring against people the moment they get here. Rip was probably as big an ass the year they won the title as he was the year he left. (Despite what MJ told him about winning.) Sent from the new and improved Tapatalk 2.
After they won the title, that was their attitude. To quote Rip, "if it ain't rough, it ain't right". We can't know that. Rip was was sulking on the bench and took pot shots at the org on the way out. I don't think it's even close. I'm sort of with brofmfa. There is a reason why no one has picked up Rip Hamilton yet.
