Probably when he's 34 years old, as a end-of-the-bench relief scrub for the new Seattle Supersonics. He'll get in, get fouled twice and hitting them both for a perfect 100% from the line. I can see it happening.

This is great. Obvious extortion attempt by a local politician.

I love how Detroit never changes.

I think she is smart. She is trying to get more for her constituents while she still has some leverage.

She's trying to grandstand on the issue and if the Pistons/Gores/Wings wanted to call her bluff, they could destroy her in the local media in 30 seconds.

Generally speaking, people love their sports, they don't love their politicians.

They could destroy her by saying local youth and community activities are a waste of money?

My friend, you don't think like a political operative.

    [art of war]
She's holding up jobs for Detroiters who live in the city, important construction work for downtown and hundreds of small businesses and restaurants will be hurt if this doesn't get approved. That is blue collar service workers, many of whom are in unions and many who voted for her, certainly not to deprive them of good paying jobs over technical considerations that have to be negotiated.

That doesn't even touch on the gaping hole that will be left in Detroit municipal tax revenue, money that is badly needed to fund education, sanitation, transportation and police services.

She has some valid concerns, but if the city council doesn't approve this project quickly, it may have to be put on hold indefinitely, with the economic consequences hitting the people of Detroit as soon as October.

Mr. Gores, Messers Ilitch, if this pitch appealed to you, hit me up through the contact link. My consultancy rates are reasonable.

Have gotten to the point I don't care if Drummond smokes weed. If only he could hit more FTs...

So, have a vote of Detroit Residents. Then they will get the funding anyway. People want jobs, basketball and hockey downtown.

[First off, yup, I am back and am going through old threads:D]

I think you are glossing over the word "asserted." I think your description would fit this sentence, "Anything that hasn't been proven can be dismissed." Which would be extreme, drastic. But, to assert something is to be confident and forceful in backing it up. If someone is being assertive about something they believe to be true, the onus to provide proof is on them, not those who doubt him/her.

Which is what this law seems to be about, the onus of proof. Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat, The bruden of proof is on who declares, not who denies.

Naturally, if you tell me you instead of guts your insides are filled with "fun-size" candy bars. I will feel zero need to prove you wrong, or even respond, at least not until you cut yourself open and candy bars fall out that could easy fit 3 to a hand.

I doubt this Christopher fellow would claim, as you say, he "dismisses the possibility that there are things we do not know." Close to zero % of population have claimed omnipotence. Hitchen's just isn't going to waste time to disprove something that was never proven in the first place.

I may be wrong. I never heard of this guy, so i don't know his intent. But, his quote is the same as many before it, and those were all about epistemology and meant to distinguish justified belief from opinion.

I think, if if there is no free-will and everything is determined, it doesn't really matter, for practical purposes that is. Our perception will always be limited enough that the [theoretical] perfect order of the universe will still seem totally random. So, it's just like free-will! Yay!

Wow! wow. I never saw this. He actually pretty good there waxing with his NBA2k friends. i'm sorry. hahaha. But, it I am hardcore about Drummond aquiring non-actual-basketball related skills.

*edit* really, though, he had some good stuff there. Made me wonder if it was ghost-written.
