If he does keep all three for a year, I don't think he will play them at the same time. He will play two of them and plug in some wing players that can shoot threes.

Cool. I've always wondered what one of those looked like.

From a scale of 1 to 10, what are the chances we nab Gordon Hayward from free agency? Not exactly a superstar player but I think he's exactly who we need, aside from maybe Parsons the following year.

Not sure what our chances are, but I think we should take a long look at him. He's never going to be a go-to guy like they tried in Utah, but he would be a great 2nd or 3rd option. Plus he can handle and pass, taking some pressure off Jennings and all his dribble-nodrives.

I think it would be a mistake to chase high price guys to play the 2 and 3. That's why we're here.

They don't need to build their team in July. Take some time to see how it goes.

All we know for sure, really, is that the Pistons
don’t need a defensively adept frontcourt player
with a poor jump shot. They appear to have that
    role covered several times over.

Sometimes the best move is the move you don't make. Granted, it was forced on us since we lost our pick, but if we need a PG, I think we already may have him in Siva, at least as backup. Let's see what Stan can do with him. We may also have our shooter in the wings in KCP, he did start breaking out toward the end. Datome may do well under a fresh coach. We have assets, let's see what we have with a new coach and GM. Also, don't forget Mitchell. Joe may have screwed us out of a pick, but he left us with some pieces. I say let's see how it plays out. Also since we pick in the 2nd round, it will force the brain trust to really focus on the best of the rest. If the draft is as deep as they say we may find someone even then.

I think KCP is far from a bust and is certainly serviceable as a starting 2 guard. He has a great shot, plays great defense, and makes plenty of cuts off the ball.

What we need is a 3.

The question is, do we want 115% of Kyle Singler at 10 times the price.

Great point vincy! Let's not forget that we still have guys like Deron Washington and Trent Plaisted stashed overseas for exactly this reason.

Its in no way devastating to lose a #9 pick. Perhaps its even better to get it over with this year , even with the best planning injuries can send us
back in the lotto to risk losing a top 3 next time.

What bugs me is that friggen Cleveland won it again with worse odd than us. I kind of thought that this was going to be the year that we drew - or were selected to a top 3. Would have been nice. I would have been ok with anyone else but the Cavs getting their top 1 - Again..

The rules need to be changed or it needs to be drawn in the open. They used to have the excuse that there was not enough time for a live drawing but now they dedicate a 30 min show to it so there is no excuse not to do it out in the open.

What I knew...Dumards is an idiot.

What I learned..,Gores is an idiot

What I wonder..Is Van Gundy an idiot?

I haven't followed the Pistons very closely for years. But it seriously made my stomach turn when I realized they didn't get a first round draft pick.

Not to mention it is audited by Ernst & Young. Amazing that they still manage to rig it every year.

Good call. From #7 through #60 is still a crap shoot. Leadership (street and admin level) has changed and maybe the organization can hire some on-the-ground scouts and fall out of the latest statically numbered phase.
Now, us fans that are so very limited, can come up with the latest 6-8 players that the Pistons can take at 38. No big deal, and this is all reinforced by some heavy scouting organizations that they can sub-contract additional scouting reports.
SVG should hire foot soldiers that know something about the elements of physical development and some gut-feelings about the potential abilities of teenagers. With the right talent, it is not that difficult; especially now that the Pistons have a true D-League franchise.
Let us all hope this current wake-up call can manufacture some professional improvement processes.
And Gores, shut up (except for modeling your bouffant $5000 suites) and let some professionals have their way.
