Popovich left Duncan, Ginobli, Green and Parker at home???

Stern is going to hammer San Antonio for this...

This is why I tend to not draft those guys in fantasy hoops.
I had Duncan a couple years ago and Manu last year and it's frustrating.

I hope they still beat Miami and shut Stern's piehole.

Ha, Spurs leading midway through the 3rd. This would be a sweet W.

I don't blame Stern. It's a shamockery to pull a stunt like that. Stern is embarrassed because it's a nationally televised game. Pops is just messin' with Stern. Credit to the Spurs scrubs for making it a game.

Up 4 with 6:00 to go. Will Pop get sanctioned if they win? Or will the Heat get sanctioned for embarrassing the league even more?

Are you being sarcastic? The NBA cares because of gambling more than anything else, I'd wager (pun intended).

If the Spurs win, Popovich should say "**** you, David", and walk out of the press conference.

Up 5 with 4 to go. I haven't been this excited about an NBA game in a while.

    Who was coaching that garbage?

I'd like to see our guys take Miami down to the wire on the road without any of our all-stars.

What if you spent a couple hundred dollars on tickets a few months ago to take your family to this game? Or even worse, what if you had Ginobili on your fantasy team?

Since when does the NBA care about the fans? David Stern isn't threatening sanctions because some kids' dreams were crushed not getting to see Tim Duncan in person. He's doing it because announcing the day before the game that you are sitting four of your top players screws up Vegas' betting lines.

Whatever the reason, it just seems wrong what Popovich did.

If pissing off David Stern is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Popovich is trying to win as many games as possible.

Baseball teams sit star players all the time to give them rest since the season is such a grind.

But basketball is way more physical and the Spurs are an old team. Pop is just doing his job... and maybe screwing with everybody too, which he seems to enjoy.

You called it. The more I think about it though, the more I disagree with Stern. I don't know of any rule that dictates who starts or who plays. Pop looks at this long term and comes up with a strategy. Isn't that what he is being paid to do? If the Spurs go deep into the playoffs because their vets are rested, isn't that the point?

When Stern hands out the fines, the Spurs should turn this into a media circus.

The only issue I had was that I had only two players scheduled to play on my fantasy team tonight and one was Duncan and the other was Battier who sat out with a knee injury...so I gained nothing tonight, and apparently didn't lose either as my opponent forgot to set his lineup and his three players playing tonight were stuck on his bench??

I hear Stern's pain, but I too was hoping that they Spurs Scrubs could knock off the defending champs, and you could see the pain on Spoelstra's face when De Colo hit the three ball with just under 5 mins to go that stretch the lead to 7 points. Unfortunately the wheels fell off after that and the ultimate Heat embarrassment was avoided.

I remember going to a Clipper game last season, and Chris Paul was in street clothes with no apparent pre-game warning and I was upset.

This could have been the win of the year in the regular season if they would have pulled it off.

Honestly though, in the last 2 minutes, the Spurs couldn't even complete a pass. The Heat flicked the switch on D.

Maybe just maybe Stern should look into a mirror and realize his stupid schedules of back to backs and the like cause the players wear and tear and that the Spurs actually have it right and want to be in the best shape for games during the playoffs and not a game in Nov. When the fans buy tickets its to see the best players yes, but if you buy a ticket ahead of time you also face the fact that a star player may face an injury and miss the game too. Sitting them in Nov may also mean there rested and remain unhurt and play a game in Feb or April. Which game is more important for the fan?

I applaud the Spurs worrying about the end game and not pleasing the self appointed god of basketball.
