Andrea Bargnani for 2014 1st rounder?

The Raptors seem intent on getting rid of Bargnani and his massive contract. If I understand correctly, he has 2 yr 23 Mil contract remaining. Would it be a good idea to absorb this massive deal in trade for a 2014 pick?

    My train of thought:

    (1) There's no player in FA this year who is deserving of a max contract this year, except Chris Paul.

    (2) 2014 draft is loaded with talent and who knows the Raps might end up in the lottery.

    (3) Bargnani may be able to find his form in Detroit, especially if we retain Calderon.

Wait, are you saying you want to receive Bargnani AND their 2014 first rounder?

If so, that's asking a lot. Who do you suggest they would take from us realistically? Otherwise we likely won't have a 1st rounder in 2014 due to the Ben Gordon trade (top 8 protected only).

Also Bargs, Moose and Drummond will make for a crowded front court. Who would come off the bench? Or do you suggest Bargnani play the 3? (Not totally unreasonable).

That's not asking for that much, it's similar to the Ben Gordon trade. Bargnani is a worse player than Gordon and his contract is just as bad.

I see what you guys mean. I got one better, what about:

    (1) Stuckey for Bargnani and Ross?

    - Raptors receive and expiring contract and they get rid of Bargnani's massive contract. Plus, Ross' minutes have been cut due to the addition of Rudy Gay and because of Derozan.

    - Pistons receive an athletic wing who can shoot, plus Bargnani would be expensive but I think he'd fit nicely with Drummond as Monroe's backup.

Bargnani was a stud just 2 years ago. I think he will bounce back. Hook him up with Arnie Kander to get him healthy again and perhaps their is a way we could unload some of our garbage in exchange for helping the Raptors rid themselves of Andrea.

    His nickname is "The Magician".
The only thing to disappear has been his game.
If we pick him up and it causes Stuckey to Disappear,
    then I'm in...........

Bargnani + 2014 1st rounder for Stuckey (+Jerebko perhaps? I like him, but I think his contract is too big).

I don't think Raptors will care about giving away a pick, as they are expecting to make the playoffs. Not sure how it would work out tho, since they gave away their pick this season to OKC.

I think they'd rather amnesty him than give up more draft picks. If they amnesty him I'd be in more favour of grabbing him.

Bill, injuries have completely messed him up. He's no longer that player. Maybe again in the future, but doesn't seem like a risk we need to take.

That's for 31 games Bill. Missed 50 games...that makes his magic trick even more impressive.

I don't have time right now to read your full post. Could you provide a more condensed summary for me?

That doesn't make him a stud. He was a net negative to his team that season too.

Barney Yarney is ok. I don't know about how he is post-injury, but the dude can shoot from outside, and has a nice touch around the hoop.

He's basically the good version of the Darko we thought we were drafting. A poverty stricken man's Dirk Nowitski.

Yes, and maybe that poor man finds salvation playing next to Drummond?

A 6'11 guy who can play the 4 and 5 is already and upgrade over CG.(What isn't?)

The Pistons could play big/big and big/small while still having size on the floor.
