    Wade has flu, misses shootaround

MIAMI -- Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade missed the team's morning shootaround practice because of flu-like symptoms, but coach Pat Riley said his leading scorer would be ready for Friday night's playoff game against Detroit, the Associated Press reported..

Riley said Wade was being treated.
"He'll be out there tonight," Riley said.
Wade was not suffering from the virus during Miami's Game 5 loss at Detroit on Wednesday night in the Eastern Conference finals, Riley said.
Wade is averaging a team-high 27 points for the Heat, who could advance to the NBA finals for the first time with a victory over the Pistons on Friday.

What a self promoting weasel...I'm sure he is angling for a Jordan like game tonight..

Jordan remembers waking up in the middle of the night, sweating profusely, shaking, and feeling as if he was going to die. "I was scared; I didn't know what was happening to me," . At first, he thought it was a nightmare. Then he realized it was real, that he was seriously ill. "I felt partially paralyzed," he would later say.
When he lifted himself up from his bed in his Utah hotel room, his head began spinning. He'd never been so nauseated before. He feared that somehow, some way, someone had slipped some kind of drug in something he ate.
It was the middle of the night in Salt Lake City, an off day between Games 4 and 5. The series was tied, 2-2, following Utah's second consecutive win, but how in the world could Jordan play in this condition in Game 5?
Jordan called the Bulls' medical personnel, which came rushing to his room. They determined that he was suffering from food poisoning or an intestinal stomach virus. "There's no way you'll be able to play Game 5," Jordan was told.
Jordan remains in bed for the next 24 hours, missing the Bulls' morning practices the day before and the day of Game 5. He had lost several pounds. He was dehydrated. Then, at 3 p.m., just three hours before tip-off, Jordan rose from his hotel bed and dragged himself to the Delta Center.

Yeah...Wade is trying to follow the Jordan script.

Sounds a lot like some punk Jesus Shuttleworth resurrection script.

I guess we will have to debunk that with the DaPiston Code.

Can you imagine if they lose an entire additional season of "If Wade hadn't gotten the Flu....blah blah blah"?

...not only that, that jackass got the flu and will be out there running around "sharing" it with all of our guys.

Definitely a built in excuse in case the heat lose tonight. Tomorrow Riles will he will say that Shaq has a bruised ego so they will have an another pre-excuse for losing on Sunday.

Of course if the Heat win tonight, they will pump up the story and this guy even more stating that "he led the Heat to victory with a convulsion like temperature of 105...."" Already ESPN is promoting it as Jordan like replica of his heroics back in the day...gimme a break:P

When Jordan turned in his flu-induced heroics I don`t think it was broadcasted hours before gametime. Wasn`t it like at tip-off everyone became aware MJ was sick?

Anyway, he will not turn in a MJ like performance tonight. Maybe Riley is trying some psychological crap to make the Pistons feel overconfident.

If he is sick and can`t contribute to a Heat win, I could care less, just win Pistons, with a healthy, or unhelathy Wade, I dont give a flying fish!!!

Don't hear a peep coming out of Rip or Rasheed about their ankle. Riley is a bum for even coming out with that potential excuse. Suck it up and may the best team (read Pistons) win!

Wade will come out strong. Kid is a warrior. He will come out, flu and dehydrated and fighting all the way...then we're going to floor him on his first drive. And on his second.

Do what you do fellas. On second thought, do what you need to fellas.

Just heard an interesting take on the Wade flu rumor. Homeboy is tired. Riley had to come up with an excuse to rest Wade, so he came up with the flu-like symptoms story....hmmmmmmm

I'm sure Wade will play, because this is their best chance to advance.

    ill/exhausted Wade @ AA Arena > healthy/rested Wade @ Palace

Yes if the possibility is for Wades eyes to bug 5 ft out from his head and yell...."SM--HOKEN!!!"

...I don't know about you guys, but from hence forth, he will be known only as the MASK to me. :D

    -----Thanks Lurker

Over the last couple years it's been trendy to catch the flu.

Back in the Bad Boys days there weren't any panty-waisted ballers hiding behind the flu. No way. No how. No flu.

Back then it took a helluva lot more than some wimpy azz flu bug to take a vet out'a a playoff game, in the bad old days only a real mans affliction could siderail a superstar (ah - it was known as the "Scotty Pippen Migraine".. )
