Does anyone remember we have this guy?

Didn't he rip it up in the DL?

With all of this talk of trade for PG's and SG's... I have not seen his name mentioned at all.

Isn't the organization pretty high on this kid?

Everyone "planning" for next year just keeps talking about Amir and Maxiell. Where's the excitement over this kid?

I say let Delk go and give his minutes to Acker.

ASB said something around the trade deadline to the effect that the Pistons were so high on this kid at the time that he wouldn't be surprised if he overtook Lindsey for the backup PG spot. Obviously, that never happened, but he didn't look bad in the regular season games. He was obviously tight and nervous, but he has a nice compact dribble that he can maintain in traffic, a nose for the ball, good form on his shot, and his defense improved notably with more minutes.

I'd rather keep him than Delk, easily - but if a Speedy Claxton or Marcus Banks is available, sorry kid.

Also, the rookies must get burn next year since theres just not enough money to get anybody already established. ITs time we start the homegrown ala Dallas. Look whats happening over there with Howard and Daniels. Nevermind Nowitski, just some good young guys on low contracts that can contribute.

Hammond recently said they still think Acker is a keeper.
My thinking was that they should give him a legit shot early to see if has what it takes... you can always make a deal by February if he fails.

Did he play on the NBDL team last season? Did Johnson? (I forgot). If so, is it possible they can be sent there again (I remember something about a max of 3 times and only certain guys could play, or something).

I'm really curious because Idaho has a team now(Boise Stampede) & I am looking forward to going to a couple of games when they play Sioux falls (the season starts in Sept., right?) Anyhow, I'd prefer to see Acker & Johnson get some playing time on the Pistons, but if not, is the NBDL possible?

I was gonna ask you if you were within driving distance to Sioux falls (our own insider)
Yeah they both played for Fayetteville... and both had excellent stats.
They can play one more year in the D-League
When Cleaves was healthy Acker played some SG... then moved over to PG

there was also some mention of letting him go. he's got the least stable contract. I think they'll give him a chance to earn his time but its still up for grabs.

They SHOULD have played delf more. if he earned it the great, a solid 2nd unit guy. If not, then adios amigo. But now they have to bring him along AND bring Acker OR Amir AND JMAX.

I don't know if we can afford to give that much PT to that many guys.

Acker was up and down in NBDL. Mostly up tho. AJ was mostly up too. I think their numbers were great and they did help spark a winning streak.

I think both are still eligible to play in the DL

That is why there is a D-League. Instead of letting the 13~15 men become Dark Lords of the Sit, those guys can be young fellers bouncing down to the D-League.

All first and second year players are eligible.

All I'm sayin is that you probably can find minutes for two yung'uns...but 4? shoot, we didn't even give enough to 1 guy.

Slippy: I don't know if we can't afford it.

Mercury: Yesterday, I asked my buddy who lives here, where Sioux Falls was located (because of the NBDL league). He didn't know either.

I just looked it up. South Dakota is a good distance from me. It looks like it's the same distance that Michigan is from Kentucky. :ohwell:

I'd much rather have the starters rested and a grown bench without HCA than a Piston starting 5 tired and an unproven bench with HCA.

Yeah, that's what Low was saying (albeit sarcastically).

I hope the Piston's brass learned their lesson.

Are we a championship-caliber team either way? Since the Pistons seem destined for another playoff meltdown, we may as well enjoy watching the younger players grow during the regular season.

Agree the bench needs to be developed... just hope the beotch factor doesn't get out of control as we lose several games early on.
Flip has already said developing the bench will be a priority next year. I think Joe laid it on the line... without telling him who to play :^)

Current Pistons have been 0-2 with HC in the Conf Finals and 2-0 as the underseed.

I was not very impressed with Acker in the pre-season or for that brief stint late in the year. Never know.

Thats because when they get full of themselves they suck, but when they get downgraded they're great. This team is either hungry or full of themselves. I hope we develop the bench instead of go for a high seed.
