Why not just buy the Clips for another $30M ?
You could use it as a tax shelter.
Is this sick or is it just me ?

He wants 10 years on a contract when he's 31-32 years old. Like he's gonna be worth 30 million per year after he's 36. I say let him go. The guy plays in St. Louis. Let the fans suck on a few beers if they're not happy. The whole situation really blows........:puke:

Nems, thanks for the reality check.
Even though his current contract left him way underpayed, dude snap out of it.

The Cards will prolly pay him and it's likely that they'll get the full return on their investment.

Chicago White Sox general manager Kenny Williams says talk of $30 million-a-year players is "asinine" and he would support a work stoppage to bring fiscal sanity.

    [IMG]TEAM LEADERS

Every team has one man who stands above the rest. Here are the best players on each team.

Williams doesn't want a stoppage but said the sport's future needs to be protected for fans and smaller markets.
In an earlier interview with Comcast SportsNet, Williams said discussion of a $30 million average salary was "asinine." He said baseball has reached the point of no return and something needs to happen.
With St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols eligible for free agency after the World Series, there has been speculation he could be the first with a $30 million average salary. Williams said Tuesday his comments were not personally directed at Pujols.
"I said what I said. I said what I felt," Williams said as he sat in his golf cart watching his team's first full-squad workout.
His comment about a shutdown drew attention.
"Do I want that? Who does? Come on. Come on. This is a game where millions upon millions of people watch on television and come to the ballpark to get away from some of the things that are going on in life, to have a little bit of entertainment," Williams said. "That's all I'm saying. That's exactly what I'm saying, is that we have to protect that. We are stewards of the game and we have to protect it."

Isn't this the guy who gave A-Rod $20 million a decade ago? Now that he's with the White Sox and the cross-town Cubs might end up snagging the best hitter in baseball, all of a sudden he feels the need to become a "steward of the game"? :bs:

I don't know that Coy. That would be really 2 faced of him if so.
But I know I misspelled Pujols.

I think he'll end up signing with us in the low 20's per year, with his salary going down as he gets older. I don't mind the Cards letting him walk if he wants anywhere from 25-30 mil over 10 years.

Interesting you have the same suffix last name. Tigers would love to have him batting before Cabera

Haha, I apologize everyone. I'm used to being in Rams and Cardinals company, I'll be more specific next time.

But yes, I did mean Cardinals, not tigers :pound:
