indeed. What happens if no other player bids on a FA? Do you still have to pay the amount you've proposed? And do other players get notice that someone bid on a player?
On a side note, I'm fine with how things are. Yet, this system looks interesting even for players without a time difference since it would be a nice way to avoid an advantage for those who sit in front of their computers/are online all the time

    Exactly.

Haven't had much chance to test every situation yet, but you pay what you bid even if nobody else bids. You can bid $0 if you don't think anyone else is going to claim your player and get him for free that way. But it's just like normal waivers.

I don't find myself disadvantaged here in England, although the time difference is obviously not as severe as Australia.

Time zone differences aside, it also makes it more fair for those who don't have as much time to sit around watching NBA or computer screen stats all day/night long. Those with busy jobs, families, a life, etc. PS - I am not one of those people.

I have played in a league with the bidding system. It is somewhat fair. The people that pay attention during games and make those fast waiver wire pickups are not rewarded though.

Yeah, I mean, it all depends on what kind of league you want. If you want a cut-throat, no-holds-barred, smashmouth type of league where you need to be committed and the best of the best then it wouldn't be appropriate perhaps. :6shoot:

The bidding makes more sense in a football league in which you would have to go through this process just once per week. I don't think daily bidding in basketball would work well.

Fantasy world and all that comes with it is back! :D

Attention. The CookieMonsters are looking for a PF. Basically, except for Batum, everyone on my team is tradeable. Let me know whether anyone needs a PG, SG or SF in exchange for a PF.

There are a few fairly nice PFs in the FA pool...

really? I didn't see any :) Anyhow, I wouldn't drop any of my guys for the ones there. That's why I'm looking for a trade; on a side note, trading is also more fun than picking up FA's.

There is no one in the FA pool that's going to get you a player that can help you in more than 2 stat cats.

I hate to be one that points it out, but a 12 team league rather 14 teams, probably gives a few more free agents to toss around the whole season. With that being said, my team is selfish and even though I am loaded with guards they don't want to pass the ball and my bigs can't block to save their lives. So I may be ready for a block buster trade, but I am going to go with my core for another two weeks before I consider it.

Incidentally does anyone know what the actual cut off time for picking up FAs to allow them to play the following day?

At 6:50am British time today I picked up Jared Dudley and he is good to play for me in tonight's games. I'm interested to know the exact deadline time... Thanks.

Just found out that I edged Motown (during his birthday week) by the slightest of points. 5-4

With less than two minutes left in the Hawks-Lakers game, Lakers Javier Henry hit his last two free throws and me and Motown tied in the FT category at .740 to leave us at 4-4-1...

Well today I find out that I won my first series by percentage points ....I guess the FG and FT are probably the only cats that can break it down that close.

For me it is usually midnite my time (Pacific Standard)....Not sure about other time zones, but in previous seasons if was visiting the east coast, I believe I had longer...maybe until 3 AM to make a transaction...

Yeah that would seem about right - 3am ET is 8am British time. I definitely picked up FAs last season between getting up at 6am and leaving for work at 8am (dedication!) who I was then able to add to my lineup for games being played "that evening" as it were.

Would love the definitive time though.

Pretty sure it is 8am your time. Not sure if it changes when the US switches from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time, like it did this past weekend. Is Daylight Savings Time used in Europe?

Here's a time calculator with more information that may be helpful

ok guys, whose team is M.C.P.G.? Isn't there some sort of code of honour that prevents you from accepting a trade proposal if the concerned player gets injured?
