This is a good way to go organizationally. The Patriots will only pay so much for certain positions

It makes sense to spend your cap space on the 1, 4 and 5 spots. The 2's and 3's are interchangeable if you play the right way. You only spend there for A-listers.

What a fit Cliff Robinson would be on this team. Man!

@roscoe36@roscoe36 talks about those early aught teams a lot. Robinson, Barros and Barry would help this team. That style of play would help this team.

If the Pistons go after "better shooters" like Jodie Meeks and Big Jon Leuer without addressing their inability to get better shots then this will be Van Gundy's last year. He might not even make it past the AS game. ( I hope to god he gets sacked now. )

It would be great to back into a guy like Kelly Oubre late in the lottery.

I'm not a big mock drafter nor a college hoop fan, but every one I have seen seems to have the Pistons taking a "legit" PF. That would be great!

Drummond paired with some size up front. Morris/Harris at the 3 with the option to go small. Sign a couple off ass-kickers for guards.

There is a pleiade of players that could help the Pistons in this draft.

Looks like a metaphor for going above the cap.

I wonder if we can trade for the Celtics pick that they are getting from Brooklyn. Celts also get the Nets pick in 2018 so they can spare it plus the top prospects are looking very PG heavy and they already have Thomas. Then we can draft a point that can hopefully make a difference. If Celts draw the #1 pick it could be worth moving a package incl Dre, maybe even get other picks too.

Boston's rebounding woes are nothing new; but are they fixable?

This is actually not too bad of an idea. I think we want Boston to get upset in the first round and then they'll feel the need to make a bigger change.

Boston needs a real center and help rebounding. Detroit needs a real point guard.

The real question is would they rather trade the 1st pick or Thomas?

Would the Pistons organization have the guts to make the move and are they smart enough to put a package together that could net either Thomas or the 1st pick?

Boston didn't want to include the Brooklyn pick in their offers for Jimmy Butler/Paul George. It is going to take a lot more than Andre Drummond and a late lottery pick.

I wish we could get Thomas but their whole offense is based on him.

I still think people see potential when they see Drum and not even a top 3 pick would be enough for him at this point. But if we really wanted to get crazy and shake things up then perhaps 2 potential top 3 picks will be enough as Boston also owns Brooklyns pick next year as well. Or we can wait and see if they actually draw #1. It would be taking a chance if the #1 would be that impactful to build a team around but I like the idea of building around a PG.

It wasn't just that pick, the other teams were asking for key players like Crowder in addition which was the issue. Boston didn't want to give up Crowder especially. Due to Boston having a surplus of picks other teams are getting more aggressive in their demands. They know Boston can't keep all their picks - they already have issues finding time for their recent draft picks. We don't really have anyone to offer them unless they want Drummond. They need a PF unless they want to move Horford to the 4.

There were a lot of transactions involving 2017 draft picks.

Cleveland and Golden State both have zero picks.

Detroit will only have the one pick.

Philadelphia has 5 picks, including 4 picks in the 2nd round.

Boston has 4 picks, including 3 in the 2nd round.
Orlando has 4 picks, including 2 in each round.
Utah has 4 picks, including 2 in each round.

Portland has 3 picks, all of them in the 1st round.
The Kings have 3 picks, including 2 in the top 10.
Brooklyn has 3 picks, including 2 in the 1st round.
Denver, New York, and Houston also have 3 picks.

The boring Spurs have two picks, the 29th pick in each round.

Why would Boston give up arguably the best point guard in the conference for a centre who led his team to a mid lottery finish?

There is no package we could put together to pry him away.

What if we included Lure, the 2018 2nd round pick, and a couple of tickets to the Detroit Zoo?

I was saying that as they went down 0-2 to Chicago.

If they got swept by an 8 seed in the first round, they might have wanted to rethink some things...

Those zoo tickets are probably more valuable now with the move back to Detroit.
