Well...this team choked and it embarrassed both the Administration and the Owner.
Moving back to Detroit: Stan made up his mind; he correctly surmised, "Not with this like minded group".
The Admin and Gores sniffed a different direction: The Beetles had a truth about it's composition and we are seeing a slight re-wording of a certain habitat...team on the run.

It was a deep triangle: Leuer made it whole. He choked and it was never ever to become whole again.
With Dre pouting, RJ sweating buckets (and the dye dissolving from his namesake signature shoes), and Pope accelerating his inconsistent ways; while Morris tried to take the megaphone from Stan (which soon dissolved into nothing)...we were lucky to win 37.
In the end, it was a bad triangle that had five sides.

I don't feel good trusting my memory. I fear I'm combining multiple events but I seem to recall Harris starting for Leuer against the Knicks. They hit .500 that night but it was the beginning of the end.

The Pistons had won a string of games after scoring 15 points or so in the 1st Q and falling behind big. Harris would come in and they'd start scoring before they wore teams down. This includes the Morris speech game. (Prolly not a coincidence that he's out of here.)

Van Gundy couldn't take the slow starts and toughness so he had to make a switch. The Pistons were done.

As one goes stronger (and depending on low or how high your fall from the perch), it would behoove one to minimized the damage along any pathway (or in the vernacular, the road less taken).
You can see this aspect in this countries' cultural wars: the urban and rural geographies. The totality of the states (as an object lesson) can be shrink to a state composed of 15 counties (or parishes as the case may be) that will contain (forever) isolated pockets that are pushed and pulled by changing forces outside of itself (technology, climate, generational, etc.).
I am continually amazed on how situations end up completely the opposite of a so called rational process way-of-approach.
There is a whole boat-load of complexity to deal with and along the way to understanding your placement...it must be best in grounding yourself in minimizing damage, as you try to heal (physically and emotionally) and start anew.
I always like John Maynard Keynes (and a more deeper Max Weber) who lived and exposed himself in finding the road less traveled. The former never had a comfortable couch to retreat upon (as did Weber).
Keynes always wanted to minimize the damage in a real world he was forced into as a healer.
I have two favorite quotes from Keynes (one now and one later for Roscoe):

Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone.

Sources: Caldwell-Pope to Lakers on 1-year deal

Pistons offered practically same numbers but five years 5/80, KCP got 1 year.

Next year lebrons of this world of course will get their max money, but for the rest:

Bowsers plan has always been to sign KCP for 4x40M next offseason. Bradley is just a stop gap.

I am happy that Pope got signed. Until he took a contract somewhere, there was going to be a lot of second guessing with the Bradley move.

Even if KCP has a career-ending injury next season, he will have made over $28 million in his career. He should be able to put food on the table.
