How much gratitude could we expect from a player playing for a born loser like SVG who has no system, no clue, no talent?

Opting out was a foregone conclusion. We can still sign the Baynester.

This is probably why Ainge traded down to get an extra 1st round pick. Talent like this doesn't become available that often.

Well, in 2 days will be the NBA draft. We will pick at #12.

Once the draft is over, teams will better know what they've got and teams will know their needs.

Shortly after that, Summer League will begin.

I like Baynes, but I really hope we don't resign him. It would be good to see what Boban can do with 10-12mpg for a season. He looked good in the limited time that we saw.

    Big questions facing the pistons:
    - Who do we draft?
    - Do we resign KCP at the max?

Ultimately, the real question that needs to be asked -> do we try and move Dre for some assets?

I think the Pistons will keep Dre into next season at the least. But if he doesn't start acting like an adult, that timeline could accelerate.

You'd have to be satisfied, real satisfied, with Van Gundy to do that next year.

It does seem like one has to go through.

Perhaps you have a bigger problem with SVG than Drummond does?

In my mind this team needs a culture change. Either kids on this team need to grow up on and off the court or they need to be shipped out. It's been a bit folks so I'll just bullet point the offenders and why I think they either need to ship up or ship out in no particular order.
    • Andre Drummond - SVG hired a shooting coach with Andre in mind. Andre didn't like that shooting coach ...he'd rather work with Malik Allen. Stan acquiesced and things went downhill from there IMHO. Instead of working on things seriously during the summer of his first huge contract he played pickup games and strapped some virtual reality to his face. The numbers don't lie. Despite apologist reports of a great initial percentage the %s won out and he dropped back to par. On top of that he puts out a rap video bragging about how much money he makes to miss free throws and sulk on the defensive end of the ball. He is a liability where he is supposed to be a threat if his team is going to compete. Shape up or ship out.
    • Stanley Johnson - His coach "suggested" that he spend an off season working on his game and specifically stated that pickup games with his pals might be best avoided. Instead young mister Johnson follows the lead of Big Contract Penguin and plays pickup games with his homies and comes to camp lacking some progress in the eyes of his coach. Was he surprised that the he made the coaches "crap" list? I was not. Shape up or ship out.
    • Reggie Jackson - I cannot count how many responsible players in the history of sports have attended to injuries immediately after the season is over so they have an entire off-season to recover and lose minimal time on the court during the season when it counts. Once again it's just my little opinion here, but I think that Reggie didn't want to sacrifice his summer. He was already paid, and he made a fat cat choice. He talks about how much he loves to play and all that nonsense well then this isn;t a new injury you are extremely familiar with it and you knew what it would take to get it "right" you just didn't value the team over your summer. Shape up or ship out.
    • Kentavious Caldwell Pope - My man. I am so supportive of this guy getting paid, because I have a gut feeling that letting him go will be like Alan Houston combined with Khris Middleton wrapped in a layer of 3 "what if Darko"s. Pair him with a Russell Westbrook or John Wall ( a point guard that can handle his own business on defense) and this guy is an all star. Just my 2 cents. But you know what else rattles out of my change jar? Pope is a rich man and he can't afford Uber? A fair weather friend even? Shape up or ship out man. Seriously.
And there you have it. 3 starters and our most prominent future representative off the bench. Is it any wonder that this bunch couldn't make the playoffs? They're still struggling to grow up and be responsible millionaire employees. Either they need to commit to doing everything it takes to be part of a winning org or they need to go. Sooner rather than later. Just my take. Be well ladies and gents.
