Apparently SVG talked with Jennings and thinks he has his sights set on Charlotte.
I would have liked to see more of reggie posting up IT.
I looked for that right from the beginning of the game. For some reason it didn't happen.
IMO, SVG is too reactionary. Mismatches usually go both ways. But you have to exploit them. Sure, Boban can't run around the perimeter to chase a Kaminsky type. But that guy will also struggle guarding a 7'4" behemoth in the post. It's part of the panic label I'm afraid. We have weapons. The pick and roll and alley oop threat was our most potent last year and it's a rare occurrence now.
We don't run the high pick-and-roll as much this year and that is part of Reggie's frustration. One reason we don't use it as much has to do with teams adjusting to it. The other reason SVG has gone away from it is just to get more player movement.
Slight difference between the two scenarios, Boban's baskets are worth 2, Kaminsky's are worth 3.
We need counter adjustments then, not abandonment. Right, and Boban has a career FG% on 2 point attempts of .566 while Kaminsky has a career percentage on 3 point attempts of .325. Expected values on average are 1.132 points vs 0.975. I'll take that arbitrage. We just need to find a way to allow our massive centers to stay near the basket on both ends of the court. On offense, it's easy. But on defense, it takes a little creativity. We built our lineup out of guys who can supposedly guard multiple positions. Let's get 4 flexible players out there to guard the perimeter and run on the break and let's let our centers get rebounds and ignite the break.
Finally , Jennings to Washington. They had made a very equilibrate second unit Jennigs-Bogdanovic-Oubre-Smith-Mahinmi
What happened to your Spanish Tapatalk signature? I loved that thing.
Hahaha ok here os a New one Enviado desde España ;)
And the oscar to the GSW New Trade goes to... CALDERÓN LA LA LAN !!!!!!!!!! Ah no!...sorry..... is Barnes! XD!! Extracted from Spanish web nbamaniacs.com Enviado desde España ;)
I'd love it if Matt Barnes got a title after all the drama last year with his ex-wife fooling around with Derek Fisher.
You mean to tell me there is no one out there we can sign to enhance this lineup? I know we would have to release someone, but this lineup albeit exciting for a quarter or two won't win more than 3 games in the post season...if they get there, unless the current players on the list play hustle defense like they did in last night's second half. I mean you had Ish, Morris and Stanley driving for loose balls...something that other players never put an effort on....but on occasion, KCP and Baynes might do it. Yesterday was the first time I noticed a Piston player really trying to anticipate a Dre free throw miss and actually maneuver themselves into position to grab it and that was Stanley Johnson. I noticed that even our best rebounder on the team relinquishing the rebounding attempt to the opposing player by backing off and getting back on defense instead of trying to fight for a missed FT board. I noticed this happening in the Celtics game twice. I know Matt Barnes would have given some defensive toughness even at his old age...would have been the old angry Stanley Johnson.
Didn't Dre also get a jump ball after diving to the floor?
Signing a released player off waivers is like plugging a leak on a boat. The boat is still afloat, and is performing ably, but you can go ever so faster if you can stop that one little leak. We have cannonball sized gaping holes on the hull of our rudderless boat that only lurches forward under the proper wind conditions even though it's not a sailboat.
Good point. There are no jobless players out there right now that would immediately start for us. If we picked someone up, it would be a minor upgrade of a bench player.
You have to ask yourself why Barnes would want to come to Detroit over GS. He does this but at a really low rate.
That question would be the case of every player out there>>> California vs Michigan, Winner vs semi pretender. Which means no ones signs here unless they are drafted, traded here or they sign a lucarative contract in the summer
lucrative contract = overpay (and end up with Ben Gordon, Charlie V, Josh Smith, etc.)
We are sitting in the playoffs and won 8 out of 12 going onto the Pelicans game. That's not a gushing leak. All that matters is how good we are in another 2+ years. So, I agree picking up a fringe player right now is pointless.
