I agree with Ernie. This is exactly what we need to make the playoffs.

How come no one mentioned StuckRod's talent at hugging post game?

His body is just breaking down. He had some good stretches with them. A few 30+ point games I believe.

Do you remember when Stuckey's teams won 8 straight?

    Me neither.

The defending NBA champs haven't won more than 6 straight, so that's a pretty lofty standard that you're holding a backup guard to.

In his first year in IND, the team went as Stuckey went (Paul George only played 6 games that season).
They were 4-7 when he didn't play.

When Stuckey was +5 or better, they were 21-4
When Stuckey was -5 or worse, they were 2-24

In his top 25 scoring games, they were 17-8
When he had 5 or more assists, they were 12-4

With only a $1.2MM salary, he was 5th in win shares and 4th in TS%.

Then they extended him with a big raise and he went through some injury issues and generally started Stucking.

I like Stuckey despite his obsession with hugging his mortal enemies, but I am not sure Isiah Thomas could improve this team.

Our problem is not TALENT. It is HEART.

You don't keep slapping bandaids on a wound that needs to be cleaned and stitched. Via Negativa is probably our way forward.

When Stuckey hugged +5 times after game his teams were 4-80

When Stuckey hugged -5 times after games his teams were 72-6

Where would we be if we would have recognized the talents of Middleton and Covington. Both are premier defenders and 3-point shooters.

Middleton is .403 in his career from 3-point range now. 420 out of 1042. That's almost 100 more makes than Tobias Harris.

Covington is a career .354 3-point shooter with 478 makes already in essentially 3 seasons.

When you don't get lottery picks, you definitely can't let guys slip out of your organization without finding out what you have.

To me, the lesson is that if someone is good enough to put in your organization, you need to take them for a test drive before you get rid of them.

I mentioned Covington earlier in the year and @roscoe36@roscoe36 compared him to Darko....

I was sold on Covington a couple years ago. @roscoe36@roscoe36, notsomuch...

    December 2014:

Roscoe: I am getting tired of the Sixers announcers talking about Covington.

BillLaimbeer: He does have 23 points against us and was playing for our team in Grand Rapids a few weeks ago.

You forgot to mention how many All-Star games he has been in. An important part of his sure-to-be HOF legacy!
The only thing you need to remember is that I have been more right about Darko than you have been about Covington.

Covington is great. He leads his team to so many great wins.

I am eating it. My punishment for not recognizing the brilliance of Covington is watching Sleepy Drummond schlep it up and down the court in slow-motion against the 'Nets

    It's all coming up Detroit!

It's amazing that I have come full circle on tanking.

A few years after I started following the Pistons I remember arguing vehemently against this when people started suggesting it once we started doing silly things like signing AI with Rip still on the team. This was due to other sports I follow where this is not an issue.

Now, I am all for it (not systematic tanking over multiple years a la Philly) as we have been performing as the league wants, trying to win games despite our standing and it has just resulted us in being mired in mediocrity for 8 years. A few of those years if we had just put the cue in the rack at the end of the season, some of those 7th picks may have been top 3 with the balls going our way.

The league needs to fix this.

Middleton would be a much better fit on the wing than Morris. I like Milwaukee for next year with Giannas, Parker, Middleton and Maker, Monroe and Delly off the bench. Get a good starting centre and they'll be a topugh matchup for anyone.

We need to get rid of Leuer, and one of Harris or Morris. While Harris is more efficient and has more upside in my opinion (at least on offence), he is a lot more expensive than Morris. I could see SVG trading Harris to keep KCP.
We could come up with other options, but that mid range shooting group of Leuer, Morris, Harris and Johnson is hurting us and something needs to be done. Add in Reggie and an inconsistent KCP and the more I keep writing the more I feel like just not.

Where possible, I would keep Dre (sunk cost), KCP (potential for consistency), Ish, Stanley and burn the rest down. Can keep a Boban or Beno on the end of the bench, but if we can somehow turn any of the rest of them into a valuable piece and vet presence, I would start a mini rebuild.

    Isn't 0.08 exactly the limit?

Maybe this will help lower his price. Team should sit him the rest of the season and express utter disappointment in him.
