I'm aware of that stuff, but I still think Ginobili would have made the shot himself. Again, in my opinion Rasheed doubled team one of the best shooting guards ever played in this league, and again somebody needed to rotate.

However, we had the chance to win game seven and we blew it. Can you explain the rationale of the forth quarter of the game seven? Billups decisions but most importantly Larry Brown decision putting Prince to defend Duncan?

Prince had Ginboli covered up in the corner. No need to double team with only a few seconds left.

To be honest, the events of the game 7 fourth quarter have somewhat faded in my mind. I would have to re-watch that game. I do recall Prince trying to defend Duncan. Probably not as painful as '87 or '88, but that was tough losing that series.

Maybe it was not meant to be for us to win that year.

But I'm more concerned with This Pistons present team, especially with Drummond, our franchise player. Without pairing him up with a real power forward, he is not going to help us much to be a contender and win a championship.

We can have a poll to debate which of these are the worst, but here are the top five most memorable blunders or acts in Michigan basket history in no particular order.

Sheed leaving a wide open Horry - 2005 NBA Finals (game 5)
    C-Webb calling a time out w/o having any - 1993 NCAA Final
Zeke leading the defeated defending champs off the floor without a congratulatory handshake 1991- NBA Finals
GM blowing a number # 2 pick on an unknown relying on hearsay - 2003 NBA Draft (during the ECF)
Bird stole the inbound pass from Zeke - 1987 ECF (game 5)

I would put the walkoff disrespect no handshake act at #5. That didn't really cost us anything. We were already hated by everyone anyways.

Tay could have covered Genobli....and if Manu scored over Tay, it still would not have been as bad as leaving Horry or any player wide open on the perimeter...If anything Genobli was a smarter passer than shooter. Somebody dig up the archives of LB's post game comments....I already know Sheed probably cursed and said that the "ball didn't lie" or something stupid like that.

I would say it probably cost Zeke a shot on the dream team and a gold medal...and the Pistons more disrespect than ever....

I think the Pistons dominating the Bulls for so many years irked MJ more than the non-handshake.

I love you so much right now. Normally, I would expect you to take the LE HONOURE path of Joe "Too good to be a Bad Boy" Dumars.

Baynes IS a baller. I have no doubt he could have frustrated Shaq in the post.

Maybe we can get @TaS@TaS to do a player comparison using WS or VORP or BMI or something....

My money is on BMI. I also want @TaS@TaS or maybe @junior@junior to do an analysis to figure out who on the Bad Boys would have been the ideal fruit farmer/Carp Fisherman/Kickboxer.

I believe we could have won with KCP in place of Rip and with Tobias in place of Tay. I think our defense would have been the best of all time with Chaunce/KCP/Tay/Sheed/Ben, but subbing in Tobias for Tay would probably net a few points due to Tobias' scoring ability and average D.

I also think Dre would have been pretty scary alongside Sheed with Chauncey and KCP on the perimeter. But Ben was a freak of nature and there is no way that team would have been better without him.

The Stanley vs Corliss is a tough one for me. I would have to pick Corliss if it were frozen in time for that year, but I would have really love to have seen Stanley mixed in with that group in those mid 60 point slug fests.

Also, I like Baynes over Elden, except for the Shaq matchup. Elden all day long for that assignment.

    My personal picks:

    Van Gundy vs Larry Brown

    PG: Reggie vs. Chauncey
    SG: KCP vs. Rip
    SF: Tobias vs. Tay (push)
    PF: Morris vs. Sheed
    C: Drummond vs. Ben

    Bench:
    Leuer vs. Okur
    Ish
    vs. Lindsey
Stanley vs. Corliss (team needed scoring off the bench).
    Baynes vs. Campbell
    Udrih vs. James

    If you go by PER:
    PG: Chauncey Billups (+3.2)
    SG: Richard Hamilton (+3.2)
    SF: Tobias Harris (+3.7)
    PF: Rasheed Wallace (+5.7)
    C: Andre Drummond (+4.5)

Overall, the '04 squad had a PER advantage at 3 out of 5 positions.

    Bench:
    PG: Ish Smith (+5.3)
    SG/ backup PG: Udrih (+1.0)
    SF: Corliss Williamson (+5.9)
    PF: Mehmet Okur (+3.5)
    C: Elden Campbell (+1.4)

Victory Cigar: Darko Milicie over Ellenson (+0.2)

What metric did you use for this analysis? You have to refrain from the Roscoe focus on soft skills (heart, passion, work ethic, blah, blah, blah).

You don't double team Ray Allen in that situation, let alone an off balance ginobili off the inbound.

It was a bad play. If he had stolen the ball from Manu it still would have been a bad play.
