end of second round no sweet sixteen
Nice 3 days even more so when you take into account travel issues.... afraid they are on fumes now, we'll see how deep they can dig or find some reserve tanks to tap into. 4 games in 4 days with mostly a 7 man rotation..... hats off to them win or lose today.
Wolverines took care of business knocking off the #9, #1, #5 and today the # seeded Badgers completing the 4 game sweep to B1g championship. After the Wolverines built a 10 point lead in the first half, the Badgers closed the half on a 12-3 run and trailed 33-32. Not sure what happened at halftime, but the defense clamped up and through the first 9 minutes of the second half all the Badgers had was 2 free throws,.... By the time they woke up, the Wolverines were ahead enough to the victory and apply enough defense in the end to stretch it out to a 15 point victory 71-56. Michigan got a 7th seed in the big dance. They were projected an 8 to 9 before the tourney started. I am thinking they deserved at least a #6 especially since the three B1G teams they beat are all seeded higher...............
If they can get by Oklahoma State, having to face #2 Louisville in the 2nd round will be tough. Sparty gets #1 Kansas if they can beat Miami. We may not see many B1G teams surviving the first weekend.
Dare to dream. Besides, aren't you rooting for Arkansas or whatever your new state is?
After owning a 1 point lead at the half, the Wolverines fell behind by 7 and then put on a three ball clinic midway through the second half hitting 14 of them and at one point 5 in a row to take the lead back and push them out to point lead themselves. Walton was 6-9 , Irvin was 4-6 and Rahkman was 3-6 from deep. The team shot 55% from beyond the arc. The final score was 92-91 as the speedy OSU Cowboys hit a three as the clock struck 0.0 OKC cleaned up in the paint and on the boards (40-21) with Wagner spending most of the game on the bench, and they were fast at getting back down the floor on both the Wolverine misses and makes. Good game that went back and forth all the way to the end despite both teams taking 7 pt leads in the second half. Go Blue!!
woooooHooHoo Gophers done
Mich - Louisville live CBS Beeline v Patino
Die Patino Die M slowly asserting itself . 63-59
M to the Sweet16 Bee-line !
So much for the seedings and the experts saying the BigTen getting no teams out of the first weekend.... 3 already moved on with State yet to play.
* I guess I was one of those wrongful expects.
we aren't in Germany so why do the announcers call him Bee-line ?
That game didn't look that winnable early in the 2nd half. Good persistence.
Michigan surprised Pitino by going away from the Golden State Warrior style of three ball and decided to go inside to the big man. They still need to defend that middle and do a better job at controlling the boards in the next game.
It wasn't by design, though. Louisville took away the 3-point shot by switching all perimeter screens. Nice adjustment by UM and great versatility shown by so many Michigan players, especially Wagner.
