Summer league team looks bad during the first quarter. Can't get to the rim, can't make a three.
KCP is 0 for the game from three. Team shooting under 30%. Ugh!

Pistons 9-33 27% in first half!!

KCP rolled his ankle. Doesn't look too bad (I hope).

Pistons down to 27% shooting for the first half....KCP 2 first half points on 1-7 shooting and nursing a minor ankle sprain......Pistons down 38-30 at the half

Premature thoughts here, but Siva just went down with a hammy. Depending on how serious it is, it could prevent him from proving to SVG.com that he should be retained ...especially if they are considering signing that guy out of NOLA

SVG said he was more interested in how Siva worked during the 7 practices prior to Summer League than how he did during the games.

Pistons steal a W on a 3 pt game winner by KCP with less than 6.8 seconds left as the Pistons win again 80-78 over the Heat. With only 2 points at the half Pope finished with 26.

With only 26 points, KCP's summer league average of 28.0 points per game will take a hit.

Where was Brian Cook?? He didn't play and I didn't see him on the bench. Did he get cut?? He played poorly last game.

Looks like Mitchell should be playing center.

Perhaps SVG gave him one day as a professional courtesy.

Very fun game to watch, especially of course the game winner by Pope with the whole building knowing he was going to take the shot. Ok, so its a small building, still a lot of talent on display from Pope in getting free, and calmly nailing the shot.

Miller and Liggins stepped it up. Miller did nothing fantastic as a point guard, but he got hot with his scoring for spell, shut down their hot shot point guard completely, and played error free basketball for the 2nd half in place of Siva who was out with a sore hammy. Liggins did not do that much, but he plays defense, and showed some confindence in his long rangers today.

Harper got the start, did not do much really on offense - but the other team had to respect him at all times anyway due to the scouting from the previous game. Not bad on defense either. No Cook in this game. (Not saying Cook can't shoot, but he only made his initial two shots, was then noticed, and missed shot after shot when he had defensive pressure on him. His last made shot was after they finally left him free thinking it was safe. Yes, its better to have somebody who can shoot the ball at least vs. no shooters, but I believe you got to have something more besides just being able to shoot the ball when left open.)

Tony Mitchell just keeps being what he is, a very athletic guy who the other team has to try to find some way to get the ball past near the hoop. Its not easy as Mitchell can just about get his shoulders up to the rim. Again, if the Pistons were on a run, Tony Mitchell was in the game. We had a good start to the game, a good start to the 2nd half, and fine finish to win it, all with Mitchell in. In this game, they tried very little as far as forcing Mitchell to be a post up player. They just let him dunk it here and there or get the offensive board, mostly just letting him do what he does best, act a wall around the basket.

Pistons fight until the end....another long range 3 by KCP brought them close, within 3, but the C's fouled us with the a less five seconds but we could not get the tying bucket....so out first loss of the summer
