WELL......there us no way i can deal with 4 hrs of Chris Berman, so I am recording the draft so I can fast forward in the morning. This should be a fun draft but there is no reason to start a draft at 8pm except for the NFL's arrogance to its viewers!!! But anyway, enjoy the draft for the next 3 days and let's welcome each others comments.

Not following the draft other than seeing who the Lions selected. I thought for sure a linebacker (or someone in the secondary) and they went with a tight end. Am I missing something here?

Do you think he'll develop into a blocker?
He's more like a WR who plays close to the line.
I heard he has a history of dropped passes.

    everyone drops some passes
not worried about that, yet. Many thought WR is a need. He's a monster running through someones secondary.
I wanted defense. We got the top rated guy at a position group, not the second or 3rd best at #10. Great value.

Looks like the Lions are trying to rebuild BYU's 2012 defense.

so far...no real talk about who we did draft this year, except for the first round guy.

I'm kinda wondering why we didn't pick up a DB in the first 2 rounds.

The Lions drafted defensive backs Darius Slay, Bill Bentley,
Chris Greenwood and Jonte Green in 2012 and 2013, but...
none of those players started more than five games last season.

Actually...DB Nevin Lawson in the 4th may be better than those guys I just listed...

I didn't care for any of the DBs except the tall ones.
I thought Mayhew did good moving up for VanNoy and getting a 7th and 5th rounders with Dallas and Seattle.

We know how your mind works Neems.
    As for the draft:
    #3 receiver - check

OLB that can rush and cover - check

Center to take over for Dom - check

DE to add depth thats athletic as #1 pick - check - Actually Webster has a long way to go.

Overhaul safety position - free agency - check (still need to add youth - see new FAs) Couplin 111 looks good.

    Add a kicker - check

Depth at slot - insurance for Broyles - check - Tate

Depth at DL - check - Reid could be a steal

Add big corner - whoops - young guys have to come through or find on cut lists with all the teams taking corners

in the draft - Seisay has some size, lets see if he can make the team.

    Nice piece by Eric Edholm...

    Detroit Lions secondary
    — The Lions sent out strong signals prior to the draft that taking a corner or safety high was just not a likely destination for them. They were not smokescreening us. As it turned out, the Lions selected only one DB — Utah State corner Nevin Lawson, who can't be counted on as an immediate starter coming out of the fourth round. He's fast but stands a mere 5-9, which is interesting because of how defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said he preferred taller corners. The Lions currently have one corner (11th year man Rashean Mathis) with any significant NFL experience who stands taller than 6-foot. At safety, we figure that free-agent addition Glover Quin is locked in as one starter, and so might be fellow newcomer James Ihedigbo next to him. There are few attractive options to compete there. This doesn't project to be a playmaking unit whatsoever, and we might be left with more questions than we had before. If Erc Ebron doesn't turn into a choice pass catcher, the Lions will be dogged for years over why they passed many talented DB options with their first-round pick.

they have plenty of bodies for DB, Couplin 111 could make the team.
