I find it funny that we're a couple days away from the draft and as far as I know, we don't have any threads or discussions on the subject. ...Thanks Joe!

So who would the Pistons have taken at #8?

Which team will Joel Embid fall to?

    Who we takin' at #38?

    Who's gonna draft THIS dude?

    ...discuss.

Looks like the Sacramento Kings have turned to the Casual Internet Fan to make their pick.

It will ne interesting to see if Big Data, Modeling, and Metrics will make a better choice than the old fashioned "Watch the Games" method.

The draft is a sore point for me. I still can't get over losing the pick. The scary thing is that if the Pistons didn't get lucky with Drummond falling to the 9th pick that year, the entire losing period would have been wasted. Monroe is a good player but not enough to show for all the losing. Monroe and the typical 9th pick not enough. This makes me think that managing a decline is just as important and tricky as managing to get an elite team over the top. Of course, luck plays some role also.

My concern going forward is the guard position. I am not confident from what I saw of Jennings last year. If only he could show some signs that he can shoot at an NBA level consistently... And watching the playoffs, Piston guard play and of course overall shooting just doesn't match up to playoff teams.

Another area of concern is Monroe. Does he want to stay? Hard to get a read on it.

Rumors are that the Lakers are trying to dump Nash and the #7 for cap space. Since we have space, does that mean we can absorb the contract without giving anything (since they would not want ay $$ going their way).

Why, so Nashie can retire as a Piston?
I'd rather watch Steve Nash's corpse than the X-Man.

Nashs jersey belongs in the Palace rafters.

Nash as expiring contract and #7. I don't want to see him play.

Why would we need Nash if we still have Billups?

I believe so as long as it would not put us over the cap which it would not. Both teams are well below the cap. But do we want to? Can spend that on someone who can contribute now.

Very true. Marc Stein tweeted trade being discussed between us and Kings. We send Smoove they send Thompson / Terry / D. Williams or some combination thereof.

Here's my "Big Board" for the Pistons @ #38:

    1. Bogdan Bogdanovic - Serbia, SG
Best name in the draft. From Serbia. Good blood-flow in his legs. Looks great in pregame warm-ups. Can tear-off his jersey with bare hands. He's cut way back on his smoking.

    2. Spencer Dinwiddie - Colorado, PG/SG
I saw this guy play in person last season prior to getting hurt. He was the best guy on the floor. His last name is "Dinwiddie" and frankly, that's pretty fun to say.

    3. Cleanthony Early - Wichita State, SF/PF
His Draft.net player comp was Cliff Robinson and dammit, that's good enough for me!

    4. Thanasis Antetokounmpo - Greece, SF
Greek Freak Part II. ...duh! Experts predict that someday, he could become the 2nd best Antetokounmpo in the entire league!

    5. Walter Tavares - Spain, C
Dude is 7-3 and can shoot the rock. He has a 20 foot wing span and can dunk flat-footed from the foul line. He's from the rough and tumble outdoor courts of the Canary Islands. Dude was discovered by some German guy who was on vacation. ...He's a pisces.

If this is true, Bowser appears to be cornering the market on NBA players that I don't like.

I heard that they want to trade the 8th pick.
    ...sign and trade Stuckey! :fingerscrossed:
