Call me a skeptic but pizzas don't crash cars at 2:30 in the morning.
Fact: NOTHING good ever happens to professional athletes after 12:00 am.

Not his fault. The pizza really DID slide off the seat. He only had one free hand. Let's see YOU hold on to a pizza while fondling a stripper at the same time. Geez! Cynics like you who begrudge an athlete a little bit of fun really piss me off.

I guess the other party ran from the scene before the cops got there ? Sounds like he was alone.

When was the last time we beat Washington on the road? I heard it was something like 60+ years ago. Can that be right?

Hi Guys! .. I Love football, and of course, I'm a Lions fan!
Not as much as a Basketball/Pistons fan, you know that, and I don't know as much about the rules and history of football

So... I read about football... Recently I've been reading about Barry Sanders. And this question comes to my mind.

How the Detroit natives, the detroit people, the Detroiters, the lions Fans, see him? Is he a Legend? Is He being mistreated for all those things about the retirement and quitting on the team? Who were the "bad" ones in that?? The front office? Sanders himself? His agent?

I need some clearence about the story, and I know many of you maybe have lived those years being fans and is important to me to hear your stories. (I didn't wanted to create a new thread for this, I don't know if that's right or wrong... sorry).

I have been watching football for about 40 years. Barry Sanders is easily the most exciting and most talented player that I have ever seen play.

Personally, I was mad at Barry for quitting on his (my) team. It is still somewhat a mystery as to why he quit. Most Lion fans have accepted the Sanders retirement and have moved on. If he was introduced at a current Lions game, he would get a long standing ovation. Even though there is a part of me that is still mad at him, he is my favorite NFL player of all time.

He angered many by quitting just before training camp. This made it difficult for the org. to replace him.
And he needed to return about $7M in signing bonus. It went to court. Barry was reserved, I don't think anyone really knew him.

For the videos I've watched about Sanders I've to say that I'm impressed like a newborn!! ... In my little experience, He is up there with Walter Payton (Who I really admire for his toughness and his style of play despite being from the Bears)

    Barry Sanders wrote an autobiography.

Anyone read it? It says something about his retirement and explain anything about what happend from his point of view?

Barry was an individual wizard on the field.
His teams lost more games than they won.
I believe he should have been more of a locker room leader.
He was not the type who gave speeches to others to inspire them.
Interestingly...I was moved by his individual performances.
but.....................Not moved by his career as a whole.

What I remember about Barry is how he celebrated after he scored. He would jog over to the nearest referee and flip the ball to him, then head back to the sideline.

Barry had a coach earlier in his life that told him that when you score, "act like you've been there before".

I try to remember that whenever I get excited about something. I try to act like I have been there before and I will be back again. Stay classy Detroit City.

Also Barry Sanders was the best running back in NFL history IMO. If he played behind the O-lines that Emmitt Smith had in Dallas, he would have had multiple 2,000 yard 20 TD seasons.

    Best ever. ...period.
I don't blame him ONE BIT for retiring the way he did. In fact, I applaud him for it.
    Lions ownership let him down.
Then again, Lions ownership has let us ALL down since the late 60s.

Barry Sanders is on the Mt. Rushmore of Detroit legends.

Big...Big Game this week as the Bears come to town. Our Lions have something to prove as they try for a 3-1 start
to the season. Playoff teams win most games at home and will win games against good teams. A 2-2 start just doesn't cut it for me.
The breaks seem to be going our way this season, but the mistakes of teams past are still there. I hope the team captains have an
inspirational message in the locker room today...or the team may not deliver. I don't want delivery to be a problem again this week.
Truthfully...it looks like all we've done so far is play 3 crappy teams at their level. We need to distinguish ourselves this week.

Lions are 3 point favorites at home. Lions gain 80 more yards per game on offense and give up 18 yards less per game....than Da Bears

    Bears 31 - Lions - 30
