Houston traded Asik to N.O. to clear cap space so they can make a run at LeBron.

Do they have a different salary cap than the Pistons? Why when the Pistons sign someone do they immediately become unmovable?

The Rockets got a first pick for him, they didn't include one to move him.

@WojYahooNBA: For the Rockets, this is Step 1 in clearing the cap space to chase LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony in free agency.

Would you take Eric Gordon if you got a 1st rounder with him?

I'm imagining absorbing him mostly with cap space and giving up a marginal player. He'd fill a position of need.

@ZachLowe_NBA: Future 1st for Asik expiring a nice get for HOU. Pelicans all-in to make the playoffs next season. Gordon tough to dump w/o 1st to sweeten.

Knicks send Ty Chandler and Ray Felton to Dallas for Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert, Wayne Ellington, Shane Larkin and two second-round picks.

In my view, the Knicks won this deal.
    Felton sucks.
Chandler is broken and not the same dude who left Dalas a couple years ago.

Calderon will start at PG and can help attract his buddy Marc Gasol to come play in NYC when he becomes a FA.
Shane Larkin is a solid young future NBA starting PG and a positive asset for a future trade.
PhilJax gets two shots at finding a diamond in the rough in the 2nd round of tonight's draft.

Nah...a lot of motion signifying nothing.
Dinwiddie a good signing. Another CB (and already a better shooter).
Need to look at CJ Fair (SF) and Patric Young (as big man backup).

I am surprised CJ Fair went undrafted. He just announced he will be playing with Dallas' summer league team.

Young is also one that should have been drafted. The big run on international players left some of the college guys without a team. It wouldn't hurt to ask this guy to play with our summer league team.

You wish we had the GM that signed Lin to that contract in the first place?

And they signed Howard and traded for Harden. Now they're getting ready to go after LBJ, Melo or Love.

Any one of these moves would have the Pistons on the sideline for years.

Detroit now has an image of not getting things right (ahem, GM). This of course never negates the image the Texans have of themselves: who cares about faults...one must pay for the image. I just want my "Longhorn Special" dually one-ton special, that I can drive to the local bar. Austin is the only good thing out of Texas.

Huston will not get LBJ, Melo or Love. And then what? Same goes for Dallas and Cuban should know better. SA says, "what me worry". Those last two libertarians (H/D) just love creating a self contained image and throwing money as a Goggle wearable hoping that something sticks to their eyeballs.

I agree with the summer invite.
A more important take on this (as SVG has observed) is the Piston NBDL team is thoroughly owned by the Piston organization. Another subsystem that re-creates an obvious pathway that duplicates system learning. The Pistons should begin marketing themselves as a system learning organization. SA's consistent success ( I emphasize the word consistency) is not luck, but an idea of another displacement or broadening of mind. As John Gardner wrote in his book called Grendel, is that it was told from the monster's point of view. Projecting against the NBA traditional route, it is not about a selective role of an external commodity purchased as other, but the comfort of group kindred by connections.

If past history is any indication I suspect they'll wait for the next top-shelf talent to become available and go through this all again in an attempt to obtain them.

Call me negative, but I think that is better than spending all your $$ on one bullet that barely fits in the gun, shooting yourself in the foot, waiting 4-5 years for the wound to heal so you can do it again.

Suns to pursue LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony with offer for them to play together - Yahoo Sports

Probably a longshot but it would sure make the East interesting. Watching the Pistons duke it out with Charlotte, Toronto and Cleveland for a spot against the Roseless Bulls or the post-allstar break .500 Pacers in the ECF sounds intriguing. Adding a James-Melo-Dragic led Phoenix to the hunt for the WCF would make the West a great watch too.

Is Silver open-minded enough to go Euro and embrace the league system we have over here? Every season the ECF finalists advance to the West, the two worst teams in the West gets relegated to the East and the WCF is the finals. The way the teams in the East have been performing they might not even have to change names on the divisions, it will still be geographically correct.

ESPN: Bucks to offer 2nd rounder for Jason Kidd | 7online.com

After Kidd saw that Fisher and Kerr got twice as much as he did for not having any prior coaching experience, he decided that he wants to get paid ...elsewhere.

Since Duncan is on the decline, Gores could have held out and did a sign and trade with the deal sending Monroe and two second round draft picks to the Spurs for Popovich to be our president/GM/coach. :bow1:
